Hi Andrea! So glad you enjoyed it, and the porch and view. I do try hard to describe the house accurately — it is very much a classic cottage (the back part, where the downstairs bathroom is, is more than 150 years old and was in the original OB Campmeeting). The mattresses in the bedrooms are all between 8 months and 3 years old but the bedrooms are definitely cottagey... with wooden tongue and groove walls, ceilings, and painted wood floors. Hey Sandra- I so wish that you'd let me know if I could have done something to address the "tweaks" needed. I think I showed you how quickly I responded to your other requests for a Keurig to be placed at the home, and other additional supplies. Always happy to address anything I can to make a stay "perfect."

I'm glad Sarah enjoyed her stay, and that she commented on my responsiveness. It is true that the basement can be a bit damp, although I have a dehumidifier running constantly (with an automatic drain to outside). It is a rustic playroom, but as I mentioned to her when she wrote to inquire about the basement before she arrived, my teenagers loved hanging out there with their cousins. My daughter has asthma and has never been bothered by the basement (where she installed a dance floor during covid). I'm glad I was able to address Sarah's concerns.

I'm so sorry, and surprised, that Alice has written this review of the home I live in 9 months a year. On their first night, her husband texted me about the internet being out. I responded immediately and got it reset. He then said the remote needed batteries. I told him where extras were, and said if he couldn't find them, I'd bring more immediately. He texted that "all was good." Had I known they had other issues, I could have addressed them immediately. Alice complains about there only being 2 room air-conditioners. When she booked, I stated I had 1 window unit in the master. With this summer's heat, I added one before her stay. There are now 5, but her complaint about air-con makes no sense: I hadn't stated the house was air conditioned. As to it being dusty: The house was deep-cleaned in mid-June — furniture steam-cleaned, lampshades dusted, curtains washed. The living room rug is brand new. My housekeepers had cleaned 8 hours the day of Alice's arrival. Had I known Alice had an issue, I would have sent them back for another cleaning or replaced any frayed cushions. In the years I've had this cleaner, this is the first I've heard any issues about cleanliness. The house is on a dirt road, and with windows all open, it may get dusty faster than an air-con house. The basement is not advertised as a finished bedroom, but as a play spot for children, and I told this to Alice ahead. There's pingpong, a brand new futon sofa (6 weeks old, on a platform). There is a separate storage section, behind curtains, for boxes and bins. As to smoke detectors: I'd noticed the week before that 2 of the hard-wired detectors needed replacing, and scheduled my electrician to do this ASAP (he finished 2 weeks ago). I had 3 battery-operated detectors in place when Alice was there. As to dampness, I don't know what to say — Farm Pond is 30 feet away, and I have windows everywhere. It's been a hot, muggy summer, and prompted me to add more air conditioning. One of the beds, in a small bedroom, has a 3-year-old foam mattress, another mattress is brand new, another one is a futon I've never had a complaint on but am replacing this year. I'm also replacing the Cal King master with a new queen. Yes, the 150-yr-old house is quirky. Some doors stick, some door knobs rattle. But Alice's issues were easily fixable, if she'd only let me know. This is my home, where I live most of the year. I have many repeat tenants — some for 10 years, and am proud of how responsive I am.
