Perfect for Our Purpose

This location was perfect for us. Near our son’s home outside Longmont. The setting was wonderful quiet and beautiful. The hosts respected our privacy but were there when we had questions. The unit itself was great. Very comfortable and well maintained. The kitchen is small but we managed to cook three dinners and holiday cookies there. We’d stay again while visiting with our son.

Home Away From Home

This truly is a GEM! We stayed here in between moving into our new home, and it truly was a home away from home. Everything was thought of; we were able to both work fully from home, and were comfortable the entire stay. Every day, I enjoyed a walk around the dirt roads here and saw many bald eagles and flocks of geese landing on the lake! It was paradise. Margaret and Ron left us feeling like we were family as well. We will definitely keep them in mind for family coming into town, and know that we have made fast friends here in Colorado. I 10000% recommend this VRBO as a place to stay while visiting! It's also centralized to so much, with an hour drive to the airport, and hour drive to RMNP, and so many hiking paths and good food to eat. If you need a place to stay during your stay near Boulder/Longmont, this is the best choice!

Peaceful and comfortable

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Margaret and Ron's place. The guest apartment is spacious, bright, and thoughtfully furnished. The king bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. (Can't comment on the queen bed, but I imagine it's good too.) The kitchenette had everything we needed to prepare simple meals. Ron and Margaret are warm and generous hosts, while still allowing their guests plenty of privacy. We enjoyed walking around the property, taking in Ron's sculpture, and kayaking on the lake. We were both working some of the time, so we appreciated that each bedroom had a functional desk and the wifi was good. The balcony is the perfect spot for morning coffee with a view of the trees (plus birds). All in all, a wonderful spot, and we look forward to coming back!

A Little Piece of Heaven in Colorado

These amazing, kind and caring humans allowed us to experience a part of their every day and it was beautiful. Margaret and Ron were so accommodating to our changing family party and we are so thankful. Never once did we have to worry about anything. We spent our time enjoying our first grandchild’s wedding. Thank you both for everything. We are already talking about our return trip to just do nothing but take it all in.

We are now retired and enjoy working from home. Ron's background is mechanical engineering and a building contractor. We are both artist with our body of work being our home and property. Ron has a passion and penchant for making sculptures. It has taken over 20 years to fulfill the dream of bringing our diverse interests home and creating a sculpture park and garden on 4 fenced and gated acres. We live on the property and we are constantly making improvements. From gardening and everything in between, we do it all and we enjoy every moment!
We do hire help with cleaning and we pay a living wage.
The absolute best part is being able to share the joy of the estate with our guest who become dear friends. The bottom line is we are blessed to be living our dream and we are delighted to share this sacred place with you!
Our place is love made visible.

Why they chose this property

Highland Lake is a historic town. It was a thriving town just after the civil war.. All but the church, a few historic homes and some ditch rider shacks remain along with several newer homes.
The town of Mead is 2 miles. Mead has charming older homes and a few storefronts.
Kelly’s restaurant/bar, post office, bank, dentist, Chiropractor, a fitness center, parks, and a great 3+miles walking /biking path. A multi use building is being built. It’s a cute town.
We have bikes for our guests.
Three miles from Interstate 25. Close to Rocky Mountain National Park, Longmont, Boulder, Fort Collins, Denver...
A historic area in a peaceful country setting. Gated private residence in the country on the north shore of the lake. Perfect location for day trips along the front range and mountains.
