Olive Tree, Superb gîte, Heated Pool near Carcassonne, overlooking Canal du Midi

At the edge of a lovely village in the south Minervois of the Languedoc, right alongside the spectacular Canal du Midi & only 15min away from the famous walled Medieval Cite of Carcassonne. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This listing is for Olive Tree which has an aspect over the garden. We also offer another gîte, Canal View, which has a view over the lock at Marseillette. This other gîte can be found under the reference 52941. We find a few guests like to book both gîtes as it is the perfect opportunity to holiday with up to 8 guests. Both gîtes are fully equipped, each sleeping 4 + Cot, which can prove to be an ideal base to explore the many attractions in and around the area.

A large HEATED SWIMMING POOL 10m by 5m (32 x 16ft) with Roman steps for easy access and spacious surrounding terrace .(May - Oct) Both gîtes share the relaxing pool which is set in approx. 2 acre garden. 8 sun lounger’s and 3 reclining chairs are provided around the pool on the large decking and tiled surround, offering spacious and unobtrusive sunbathing area with extensive views of the hills and vineyards. Private off road parking in gated garden. Both gîtes have their own patios for BBQ and sunbathing. Ideal location for visiting the many attractions or just soaking up the sun. The Mediterranean Sea and beaches are 40min drive.

Olive Tree is well equipped with all essential items provided. Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Microwave, Induction Hob, Electric oven, large Fridge/Freezer, kettle, coffee maker, Toaster, Cool Box, Flat screen TV, DVD player, Radio/Hi-Fi. Free Wi-Fi, docking station for iPod/iPhone.

Large modern showers in each gîte. Clean, well maintained, freshly laundered bed linen & towels. We can provide Pool / Beach towels if you wish to save on luggage space.

Olive Tree Cottage has a south facing, fully fenced, private patio, for sunbathing and relaxing overlooking the garden towards the pool and the hills in the distance. It also has exclusive use of a ping pong table which is situated in a covered area by the side of the patio and BBQ. Around the front of the house (this is alongside the canal) you can stroll along the tow-path of the Canal du Midi and watch the boats navigate their way through the lock. The gîtes are in the grounds of very friendly British owners who will respect your privacy.

Upstairs, Olive Tree offers a double and a twin bedroom. Towels and bedding provided. There is a rain head shower, washbasin + hair-dryer. Downstairs there is everything you need for a relaxing holiday away from home. Open plan area downstairs includes a sitting room area with sofa, armchair,TV/ DVD/VHS & discs, Radio/ CD player. Dining table & chairs with a kitchen offering all facilities. A full-sized oven / grill with induction hob and a large fridge/freezer. All crockery, cutlery and tea towels are provided as well as a microwave/ dishwasher/toaster/Coffee filter/washing machine.


Our property is right alongside the Canal du Midi and great for walking or just sitting and watching the boats go by on the Canal du Midi. Supermarkets and shops are a short drive away but the village has a small shop selling different breads, cakes and a selection of groceries.

You are welcome to bring your bikes if you wish as there are some great routes for all abilities or alternatively bike hire can be obtained from the next village.

Its a perfect place to base yourself to explore the area.
