A quiet retreat without the noises of humans. Off the main road in the middle of gorgeous cedars just 200 yards off the beach of Lake Huron - just walk straight down to the beach.
Waves rolling onto the beach, the eagles are soaring and the dear are crossing right in front of the house. This year we have a set of twins from our dear deer. The Grouse showed me six chicks a couple of days ago. Sorry, no hunting on the property.
An outside fire pit and a rap around porch are ideal to hang out. Outside dining on a table that seats 10 under the front porch roof.
The heart of the home is the kitchen. The humongous island seats a lot of people. Best place for playing cards, rolling the dice or mixing up a pitcher of whatever drink you like.
A gorgeous propan stainless steel gas grill with 4 burners for the “chef” assists with cocking and extends the kitchen to the outside.
In front of the House is a fire pit for wood or charcoal fires. More possibilities to cuddle up and enjoy s’mores. A grate on top - and you bring the steaks!
The house has all amenities. A fully stocked kitchen and an spacious bathroom including HE-washer and dryer.
There is a smart TV and internet provided by Starlink. 2 gigabytes per day are free. If you want more- no problem. We charge $1.50 for the gigabyte.
4 fishing poles are available for your convenience. You have to get your fishing or hunting license yourself!

A year-round destination. For guests who prefer the winter time - snow mobil and country cross skiing on endless trails are only some of the possibilities. Great isloated location, beaches less than half mile away. Little know island with a lot to do, many scenic areas and wild life. Good two-tracks to diet bike and tour the island. Property owner was amazing and extremely helpful. Highly recommend
No issues or concerns with our week here! Everything was as described and as expected. Great communication from owner, which is always a plus if you rent anywhere. Highly recommend.
PS - My kids LOVED it :)
A peaceful, quiet well appointed cabin! We very much enjoyed the stay on Bois Blanc. Check in and communication with Miss Ben was awesome and she even came back and brought us some firewood and a saw for the fire pit. We were disappointed that the listing said the cabin had air conditioning but there was none, and unfortunately it was very hot that weekend and it got super hot inside the cabin and at night, so we didn’t sleep well. We also were looking forward to using the kayaks in the listing and those were also not available. So the VRBO description needs some updating. That’s the only reason it didn’t get 5 stars! We still had a great stay! Thank you!!

From the moment I booked this property, the Ms Ben was responsive. She reached out asking if I needed anything or had questions about the area/property. The home was cozy and clean. The kitchen was stocked with ample dinnerware, pots/pans, and even storage containers. During my stay, Ms Ben even helped me with directions to specific locations on the island that my GPS couldn’t find. Will definitely book again. The kids are already asking if we can come back.
I would not go back again. there is absolutely nothing else to do there besides stay in your cabin. There are no trails, no landmarks, no hiking and 95% of the beach access is private. We spent an hour walking just to go to an area without houses so we could see the beach. There was one lighthouse on the island and absolutely no trail or markings of any kind to get to it, oh and its on private land so if you don't feel like trespassing, you cannot see it. It was just a really really big disappointment. Maybe if you can find to rent ATVs from a neighbor, no other way to rent them, then you can drive on the one road on the island. We watched TV at one point because we had spent 5 hours looking for the lighthouse, didn't find it and just gave up on trying to find anything else to do on the island.

Dear travelers,
I'm very sorry about your experience you had on our wonderful island.
Just for your information, we were in the middle of a pandemic. So everything was closed - by governmental order. We did not have any influence in those closings whatsoever.
More than 50% of the island is state land and free to explore. Miles and miles of hiking, running, biking. We are proud to do the best to preserve nature on our island.
All our beaches are public. Everybody can walk, sit and enjoy the beaches of Lake Huron. The nearest access to the beach is just down the road - not even 200 yard strait down the road.
We would highly appreciate if you review our property only, as we are proud to give our customers always a great experience and make them feel as comfortable as possible. We are always available for questions and try to answer all of them to the best we can.
Sincerely
MissBen

This place has major potential and pros, but unfortunately it as some cons. I don't want to be negative towards the property owner, but maybe some constructive criticism. First, it was apparent they do not thoroughly clean the place between guests. We arrived with beds not even being made up and some general cleaning needed to be done. Secondly it is very confusing on the household products included. We had to request toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, garbage bags. They provide a limited supply. In fact we were required to haul the trash and you pay for anything over 1 bag. The dump place was closed when we left, so we had to haul the trash all the way home. Another thing is the occupants in the downstairs bedroom all ended up with severe bug bites on our bodies. Face, legs, arms, lower back. It is very hard to figure out what types of bites. I did notify the manager, but never heard back. She was going to investigate. Being it was a wooded area with water, it could be spiders, no see ums, or something. Maybe need to be educated on how to prevent that. Although that may seem a big amount of cons, I will say it was a fun, beautiful experience. The island is so friendly to everyone, the tavern and beaches are amazing, and the manager is a sweet woman. Just needs a few changes to the guest experience.
Already knowing the island made it easy to know what to expect there. Staying at a new place is always harder but these owners and their rental made it easy! Very kind owners and a clean and well cared for place. It was well stocked with towels and dishes, pots, pans. A working gas grill and washer, dryer access made it even better.
There was plenty of room for more to sleep if we had needed it. We had 1 small child and 2 adults. The downstairs bedroom stayed cool, especially with a door that could be shut with a ceiling fan. Note to anyone who needs to be cool to sleep at night, this is The Island (🙌🏻🙂🙌🏻) so there’s no A/C. Even with a ceiling fan upstairs, there isn’t a door or wall so the loft is pretty heated at night after a warm island day. Not an issue when the temp is lower but on 80some degree days, some may want to bring a fan to sleep next to.
We loved it.
For those that don’t know the island, it’s rustic and you create your own entertainment. Owners are accurate in their ad, there is occasionally a weak cell signal only (and usually none). So no WiFi or hot spot abilities. My cell occasionally showed one bar and sometimes showed a text that came in. But I was not able to send a text or call from there. There was a TV inside but we didn’t turn it on even once, so I can’t attest to that. They’d explained the TV reception can also be temperamental with weather, which is norm for The Island.
Be prepared for dirt roads, lots of bugs (how bad varies in the location, wind and week or day), snakes and cold Lake Huron. Lots of places to hike. Lots of areas for kids to explore nature. Amidst quiet and beauty and the ability to get away.
We were able to have a short visit to Bois Blanc Island for a weekend and were lucky to find this very nice secluded place that was just what we were looking for. The host is very good about communicating and made us feel welcome and answered all of our questio0ns. We highly reccommend!
We just got home from an awesome time on Bob-lo Island were we stayed at an air B&B i would recommend it to anyone. Very clean fully furnished just bring personal items and ouw food.
Mrs. Ben was a wonderful host and the cabin was beautiful.
Outstanding experience. Mrs. Ben made sure we had everything we needed. Even had to stay an extra night due to weather and Mrs. Ben checked in to make sure we had enough food and drinks. Great place!
The house was beautiful, especially the huge island in the kitchen. There was more than enough room to sleep. We will definitely come back and stay here soon. Highly recommend for a small/medium group of friends or family
Communication with host was 10/10. Best place to relax and vibe place was clean and cozy everything you need to cook and think of was there made meals and packing stress no a problem. 10/10 recommend :)
