Nestled within the innovative urban farming project, 'NoordOogst', the lodge offers an escape from the city's hustle and bustle without straying too far away from its joys.
Please note that we're not located directly in the city center so check our location before booking.
Welcome to our spacious first floor apartment (that is european first floor, you need to climb a stairs), tailor-made to provide an ideal retreat for families. Nestled in a child-friendly environment, the 'Amsterdam Farm Lodge' invites you to experience comfort and sustainability hand in hand. Our commitment to a greener world is showcased through the use of recycled materials that adorn the space, creating an ambiance that's both cozy and eco-conscious.
Inside, you'll find one bedroom featuring two single beds each, one bedroom with a bunk bed and a single bed and one bedroom with a double bed (160cm). In the living room, there is a sofa bed that can be converted into a double bed (160 cm). The apartment also boasts a generous living area, a versatile dining space, a bathroom, toilet, and a functional kitchen equipped with the essentials. While we may not offer lavish luxury, we promise you'll discover a haven of comfort, complete with all the necessities for a memorable stay.
Families are at the heart of our hospitality, which is why we're more than happy to provide baby beds, high chairs, and a changing mattress upon request.
This entire apartment is yours to savor, providing utmost privacy. Tucked within a building featuring seven other holiday apartments, you'll find your own haven here.
But the real treat lies outside. Step onto the sunny terrace and indulge in the abundant outdoor space at your disposal. Picnic tables await, promising delightful moments of relaxation and. Our free roaming chickens might join you.
At our place, we embrace diversity, and everyone is welcome, regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. We kindly ask you to approach your visit with an open mind, showing respect for our space, our team, fellow guests, the animals on the farm, and the dedicated folks working on the urban farming project.
Just a heads-up, though: we're not a party spot, and we maintain a strict no-drugs and no-rude-behavior policy.
Speaking of our environment, we're all about promoting biodiversity. Our gardens might look a bit 'wild' to some, and you might encounter some insects. As our property is located in the countryside, we prioritize the health of the environment and the biodiversity surrounding us. This means we do not use pesticides, as we aim to create a space that is as natural as possible. While most of the wildlife remains outdoors, on rare occasions, a small animal may enter the apartment despite our best efforts. We do advise guests to store food securely to avoid attracting wildlife. Do note that during the Dutch summer, we do get mosquitoes, given the abundance of water around.
Our chickens freely roam the premises. We believe in letting animals live cage-free, so they might approach you out of curiosity. They're harmless. And yes, you might spot a bit of chicken poop on the terrace now and then. It's all part of the farm life experience. Enjoy your stay!

About the host
Hosted by Nicole Schuil
We are a couple from Amsterdam and we love to travel. A while ago we've hosted a wintersport chalet in Austria. We liked it so much that we wanted to open our own B&B. What started out with the idea of a small cabin in the backyard, became much bigger when we got the opportunity of opening the Amsterdam Farm Lodge at the urban farming project of NoordOogst. The Amsterdam Farm Lodge is a project for 10 years and it consists of 7 holiday apartments. Our 10 years are almost done.... Who knows what the future will bring us...
What we learned from our travels is that we don't have the best memories of the places with most luxury, we have the best memories of places where we felt welcome. We want to make our guest feel welcome. We love to meet people from all over the world.

Why they chose this property
In a past long gone this place was a soccer club, the neighborhood gathered here every week for training sessions, matches, socail talks and drinks. Unfortunately, enthusiasm declined and the club had to merge with another club. The site was abandoned. The municipality of Amsterdam decided to house a refugee center on this location in 2002. From 2007 to 2013, the site was the domain of the Coentunnel Company that built the 2nd Coentunnel (the tunnel that goes under the water). When they left, the place was empty, desolate and quiet....
But not for long. The municipality of Amsterdam wanted to return the site to the neighborhood, though be it temporarely. The focus was on 'green'. Urban farming. The NoordOogst Foundation presented a plan in which there would be room for all kinds of different entrepreneurs. In 2014, the first pioneers started in the "void" that was there.
NoordOogst's plan also included space for a "hotel". There was one building block still standing where first the refugees had lived. We ended up here through a strange combination of circumstances. We already had plans for a bed and breakfast, but we saw the opportunity to open a lodge in this special place ....
In April 2017, we were finally able to start renovating the heavily neglected building. Our starting point: recycle as much as possible and make it more sustainable. As a result, every apartment turned out slightly different. We decorated everything with second-hand furniture and the paint on the walls was 'trash' for the wholesale trade.
Meanwhile, 'green' is our favorite color, together with other entrepreneurs, initiatives and the NoordOogst foundation, we are drastically 'greening' the area. We're here to stay untill the end of 2026, who knows our story will continue after that...
