Four seasons in one week.

Wonderful week, in a wonderful location with my wonderful family. We couldn't have asked for more. The accommodation was first rate. The large kitchen and lounge coped easily with our large group. The quiet presence of the hosts and their helpfulness was really appreciated. I'd certainly recommend this venue.

Well equipped barn in lovely location

Long weekend with family, including grandchildren. Steep hill off A6 to reach cottages but well located for walks and local attractions. Property very clean and well equipped for self catering. Three bathrooms and bedroom configuration ensured all family members were catered for. Linen etc provided was good quality and clean. Heating comes on twice per day and was OK even though it was cold weather. Additional heater to supplement heating in lounge would be an advantage as it is a large room which warmed up during the day due to passive heat from the sun. Would all like to return and explore the area further from this lovely accommodation.

Albertine Barn Christmas 2015

We spent Christmas 2015 in the Albertine Barn and had a lovely time. The barn had everything we needed and the kitchen and lounge were a great size for 6 adults and a toddler with a few extra family who came for Christmas dinner. Julie & Brian were very welcoming and on hand for questions during our stay and also before we arrived. The location is great, in between Buxton and Bakewell and a short 10 min drive to either. The setting is beautiful with fantastic views over the Peak District. We hope to return soon.

A cracking place to stay

Very well equipped accommodation ideal for a large family or, like our stay, for a group of friends. It is also well located for all the attractions of the Peak District particularly Bakewell. The owners Brian and Julie are very friendly and helpful and during our stay made us most welcome. We certainly recommend a stay in at Albertine Barn in the idyllic Peak District.

Wonderful cottage - wonderful location

We had a wonderful time. The cottage was beautiful, plenty of room for everyone. Perfect location, nice walks from the cottage and not far from Buxton/Ashford in the Water. We had the best holiday with 3 generations of our family. We can thoroughly recommend this property and would have no hesitation in returning. Julie & Brian made us very welcome, even inviting us to their bonfire party!

A v sweet and cosy cottage - defo coming back!

I stayed at Albertine Barn for a weekend as a group of 6. The cottage situated in a great location as just 10mins drive from Buxton and Wye Valley, where you can enjoy the nature and trails on foot or bike. The cottage was very clean and modern, with a good size of kitchen and lounge to hang out. The owners were extremely nice and welcoming. We felt so bad with our late arrival on Fri and they stayed up to make sure we're fine! They also gave us lots of recommendations for activities (while we were torn between for just staying in to enjoy the scenic view!). It's such a shame we couldn't make the most of the barbecue with the autumn chill - which means we'll definitely come back another time! :) Highly recommended to those who enjoy the nature

What a find! Great location!

Beautiful surroundings. Excellent well appointed barn conversion with everything you could want for a family get away! The property was lovely and clean, well maintained and owners on site were there to greet and on hand in case of issues but then left you alone. Tranquil setting but excellently placed for all the delights of the Peak District. Minutes from the main A6 taking you to Bakewell and Buxton, but never would have guessed you were close to this main Peak road. Recommend a visit to "Carriages Restaurant" in Newhaven (SK17 0DU), as well as White Lion, Great Longstone but many other great pubs around! Ashford-in-the-Water is minutes away and a beautiful spot for a family picnic by the river. Cycling the Monsal Trail is a must.

A real House!

We have spent few days in Albertine Barn and had the impression of being in a real House! Very clean and welcoming from the kitchen with every tool for baking a cake to the cupboard with toys for children and games for grown ups. All the needed facilities working and in very good condition, more than expected. Lot of information of things to do and see in the area. Great welcoming and helpful with directions and suggestions. As an old property owner advertising on this website, we know how much work and attention to the details is behind all of this. Well done really! this is a property that we recommend for those who want a real break staying in a peaceful and quiet place.

Beautiful setting and excellent barn conversion.

Albertine Barn had all the facilities we needed with ample space for the six of us and cars- it had the wow factor as soon as we arrived. The open king post roof structure, tiled and exposed wooden floors with comfortable fittings and furnishings gave us a home from home but in a beautiful valley side setting. Brian was the perfect host and as a Builder I couldn't notice the quality of his handy work see the photo gallery of the build on the lading!. I even got up for a dawn chorus with a coffee on the patio one morning - heaven! Well done Brian & Julie - I would recommend these properties to anyone

Peaceful Haven

It was exactly as it said on the tin! Plus excellent car parking, two lovely donkeys, and the property was spotless and a real credit to the owners. In addition, the owner showed some of us around all seventeen of the nests of various bird species. I want to go again and this time take my bike. I would strongly recommend this property.

Absolute Perfection

I stayed here for a long weekend, with my partner, and our parents (after 6 years together we thought it was about time they met!). What a beautifully restored barn, and the surround grounds and farm lands are even more breath taking. Brian was more than helpful, showing us around and helping us out with the names of the local wild birds. I would highly recommend staying here, we all had a fab time and would certainly rebook! :)

bank holiday w/e break

Albertine Barn proved to be a very comfortable, warm, well equipped house for the 8 of us, which included three generations. It was also an excellent base for exploring this part of Derbyshire. Brian and Julie, the owners, were very helpful, without ever being intrusive.

ONE TO VISIT

We have just spent a brilliant weekend at Albertine Barn. The accomodation is top notch. Plenty of space and very clean. The location is a must, if you are a walker on your doorstep you have the most wonderful walks. The view from the window was amazing and the amount of differnt birds that were coming and going all day was breath taking. I can not recommend this property enough it is one not to miss.

Lovely stay in Albertine Barn

We have stayed at Albertine Barn six times over the past seven years. We keep returning because we love the beautiful, tranquil setting, with stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside, and the standard of the accommodation is excellent. In our opinion there is nowhere better to stay in the Peak District.

maigold cottage stay

Maigold cottage is a well equipped haven in a beautiful setting. All home comforts have been thought of and the log burner was lovely and cosy in the Feb chilly weather. The setting is secluded with picturesque views, but close to local amenities and attractions. We hope to return to do more walking!

Why they chose this property

We discovered Brushfield in 1999 and decided that this was the place we wanted to live because of its spectacular location in the heart of the Peak District. It's in a great rural setting, surrounded by fields and woodland, off the beaten track - yet close to all the amenities and attractions of the area. Initially our children loved it, because of the space and amenities it had. In their teens it was too quiet for them and we were constantly taxiing them around to their social engagements! More recently they love coming back with their friends and partners, to enjoy the qualities that attracted us in the first place!

What makes this property unique

Stunning rural location, superb views giving us peace, fresh air and space. Modern conversion that has sympathetically retained traditional features. In heart of Peak Park and easy access to all attractions. Allows us to indulge in the outdoor activities that we so enjoy.
