Not a Great Experience - Please Read Before Renting
Please note - I have rented more than 6 homes on VRBO in the past 2 years...the following is the only negative review I have had to post. We had several issues with renting this home from the owner: 1) Communication - communication with the homeowner was not great. I didn't receive any instructions on how to access the house until I asked on the day of our arrival. He didn't post any information in the app either. I had to ask 2) Surprise at Last Minute (no Wifi) - 1 day before we checked in the owner emailed to say that there is no Wifi at the home. To compound things, there is no cell phone coverage the house either (AT&T). So while at the house we were completely out of touch. The owner said he tried to fix prior to our arrival by adding a long line to plug in to our computer - the only problem is our computers don't have such plugs. Not having Wifi or phone meant we couldn't check weather, get directions to any activities or check other information we needed to on vacation. We even missed a great ski day because the weather report changed on Tuesday night for Wednesday but we had no way of knowing. This was a HUGE inconvenience for us and really detracted from our vacation. The last minute notice was unacceptable. 3) Garbage to Transfer Station - the homeowner has a list of things do to upon check out - including taking garbage to the dump (about 10 minutes away). Since we checked out on a Friday I packed up our car to leave then packed the garbage to take to the dump. Check out was at 11 AM so I went to the transfer station at 9:45 AM. The problem was the dump doesn't open until 12 PM on Friday - and isn't open on Wed or Thurs. The owner made no note of this. So I packed the car with 5+ bags of garbage and spent 20 to 30 minutes going back and forth. It was a complete waste of time. The owner should have noted these times on the check out list. 4) Not Doing the Right Thing - the Wifi issue was a big one. And combined with other things like the transfer station process, lack of communication prior to arrival and some things being dirty like mold in the bottom of the garbage can I asked the owner for a refund. I wasn't looking for a lot, just something to offset the bad experience we had. The owner flatly refused to provide any refund at all. To me this is unacceptable. I gave him a chance to do the right thing before posting this review but he chose not to do so. In short, I would never rent this house from this owner

Good for cross country skiing and snow shoeing
This was a perfect location to access the cross country ski trails. Decor was a bit outdated and the lighting was poor, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our only suggestion to the owner was to include the transfer station hours with the directions. We had be out by 11 but the transfer station didn't open until 12. If we had known, we would have planned ahead and taken it the day before, instead of bringing our trash back home. Would consider staying again.

Very good visit with few issues
A nice home in a good location. A musty smell on the lower levels probably due to summer and humidity. The only inconvenience was the need to carry out our trash.

Convenient location!
Scott's house is literally located 8-10 min away from Settler's Crossing (outlet, groceries, local stores, etc). It is far enough away from the traffic and touristy areas yet close enough if we needed to buy something. Easy access going to Kancamagus Hwy and Crawford Notch. The house is as described with its semi-rustic setting and accommodated the 6 of us (all adults) comfortably. Cable and wi-fi exceeded our expectations. The only recommendations I have is for the kitchen to have a microwave oven and maybe a few more eating utensils (forks and spoons). Would love to stay again in the future.
