We knew before arriving at the property that there was no hot water and chose to stay as we couldn't find anywhere short notice. The water was still luke warm and the host did everything possible to make us comfortable. When we had problems with the lazy spa she also sent someone around asap. It was a lovely place to stay!

The house is spacious and well designed, with good heating and lots of hot water. It has been decorated well and the bath is lovely. The hot tub needs a while to heat up and we were only here one night, so missed out. The host was welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend as a good base for a break in Torquay.
Uncomfortable house in an unattractive part of Torquay (calling it St Marychurch is stretching it).
The house and garden are poorly maintained with furniture and equipment a mish-mash that appear to have come from cheap second-hand shops. The soft furnishing is ill-matching and oversized, with some stained. The kitchen equipment is well below standard (although there is an attractive collection of classic china tea cups and saucers). The shower in the 'en-suite' bathroom didn't work. The beds are very uncomfortable with mattresses well past replacement date. The quality of work in the decoration and maintenance work both in the house and the garden suggests no care has been given. The standard of tiling and fitting in the bathrooms was shoddy. The electrical wiring runs across the surface of ceilings and skirtings and in places looks unsafe. There is little attention to comfort, with most lighting being ceiling lamps. We had no alternative but to stay, however it was an extremely disappointing experience and wildly expensive for what it was.
