About this property

Classic Cotswold Home in Little Faringdon nr Burford dog friendly

A charming and unusual discovery, Garden Cottage sits in a gorgeous private enclosed space, hidden behind a Cotswold stone wall and safe electric gate. A sanctuary for travellers looking for a quiet stay in a tucked away village, near Lechlade on Thames.

A surprisingly large hallway gives onto the kitchen, conservatory and garden. A study / tv room and drawing room are all on the ground floor, there is also a large butlers pantry, a cook's dream. One large bedroom downstairs.

The property is totally enclosed so safe for dogs and children. The house has been beautifully decorated and furnished with antiques and vintage finds.

There are 3 bedrooms upstairs. One you have to walk through, so best used by young /family/ friends who know each other well!

There are a multitude of gastro pubs in the area. The Burford Garden Company is close by, offering a heavenly day out. Lechlade, a mile away, has a variety of independent shops. Thyme spa and cooking school is five minutes away and Daylesford organic shop is 25 minutes away. Lechlade has changed much in the last few years and we have two excellent cafe/ bakery who specialise in sourdough bread . You can have breakfast and lunch there.

Dogs are welcome but there is a fee of £40 a night.

For your wellbeing I can organise the best massage you have ever had. There are gyms nearby and if you want to have riding lessons there is Talland School of equitation. Cheltenham and all that it offers is 40 minutes away. There is the world-famous Woollen Weavers in Filkins, which has a fascinating museum and sells stunning heritage weave fabrics and wares. Oxford is 30 minutes away and Blenheim Palace also is about 30 minutes. Many more ideas if you would like. I do not like to let my house out for less then 5 nights over Xmas and Easter. I also only allow one dog at my discretion and I do not allow cats.

About the host

Host profile image
I have primarily been a competitive dressage rider and now retired. Decorator and writer. I organise this and this is my house that I actually live in. It’s cosy , airy, full of light. It’s decorative and decorated in an eclectic style with furniture and objects I have collected on my travels.I love my house and I hope you will also.

Why they chose this property

This is a very charming part of the Cotswolds. We are on the border of Oxfordshire also. It’s good for bicycling as it’s not very hilly. The garden is plenty big enough and I spend a lot of time doing the garden myself which I am quite proud of. I have lots of friends in this area and it has been my home for 14 years. I do not take bookings over Xmas or Easter for less than 5 nights. I only allow one dog at my discretion and no cats .

What makes this property unique

I think the style is what makes this property more special than your usual converted modern barn. It’s full of antiques, beautiful linen and towels and china.
There is also everyday alternative for children so you don’t have to worry. The property being enclosed is safe for dogs ( please pick up poo!) security is excellent as automatic lights come on with movement all around the house. The kitchen is very well equipped.
