Swn-y-Don is a large wing of the Maesgwynne Mansion, a grand stone built mansion house that has been meticulously restored by its current owners from its former ruins, and enjoys an enviable elevated position on the owners working farm who also have two well behaved pet dogs. Surrounded by meadows and woodlands, you can enjoy an early morning walk into the village of Llansteffan where you will find a café, restaurants, pubs and of course a magnificent sandy beach. Llansteffan castle ruins are also well worth a visit and dates back to the 12th century, with iron age earthworks still visible and far reaching views across the River Towy and out across the Carmarthen Bay. After a busy day sightseeing enjoy a dip in your private hot tub, positioned on a decked seating area and from where you can enjoy those magnificent views, perfect for stargazing with crystal clear skies at night.
Internally Swn-y-Don has been finished to a good standard and offers an excellent level of comfort throughout, with a spacious, bespoke kitchen leading through to an open plan living/dining room complete with beams, solid oak flooring and focal wood burner really retaining the character. On the first floor both bedrooms are spacious, light and airy and again finished to a good standard. The family bathroom offers an elegant roll top bath to soak in and the convenience of a separate shower.
Situated close to the Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire borders, this location is ideal for discovering both counties. The famous walled town of Tenby coupled with its cobbled streets and sandy beach is really worth the visit at less than 45 minutes away, along with Saundersfoot and Amroth. Travelling east you can discover the Botanical Gardens of Wales and the Gower Peninsular. Locally there is sailing, water sports, golf, fishing and riding available which is sure to entertain the most active of families. Oakwood, Wales’ largest theme park and Folly Farm Zoo are all within a 45-minute drive. Beach 2 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
