Thomas and I have lived in Montauk since 2004. Thomas has a thriving Landscape Design company in Sag Harbor for the last thirty years and is also an avid surfer and musician with his band Jettykoon. He is very active in preserving the core environmental beauty of Montauk and often seen on the forefront of fighting for natural, sand only, beaches among many other things. I am a professional singer songwriter with a band that has been been making music on the East End for the last 2O years. Together we have three children who attend Montauk School during the year.
Why they chose this property
We both have an infinite love for Montauk. It's raw natural beauty, pared with the thriving town that has a charm all of it's own. If you are looking at rentals in Montauk I probably don't have to tell you what is special about it. One thing I will say is that our house is just a bike ride away from it all. We bought this land because it was at the end of a dead end street. It is a minute from the hustle and bustle of it all but at the same time offers solitude and that is important to us. We love our neighbors and they love us. We intend to keep it that way. That said, you can really enjoy the town and walk home at night to the sound of the peepers but if you are looking for a share house situation then this is definitely the wrong listing for you.
What makes this property unique
Walk to town, walk to beach, bike to farmers market on Thursdays. Go out all night and walk home... don't need a car! Have guests? They can walk EVERYWHERE. Our second room has it's own access and bathroom making it a perfect option for guests. Want to go to Ditch Plains? There is a trail at the end of Surfside that leads you to a magical stroll along the sea and pops you out the other side. Or just take the beach back and walk through Lowenstein Court (next to Atlantic Terrace). Don't feel like the craziness of Ditch? Then grab your chair and walk down to Ocean at end of road. If your looking to unwind and really have it all, this is the house for you.
