This cottage was small but beautifully designed for two. We loved it's ambiance and the location was so quiet and peaceful. The New Forest is so special to walk around and enjoy. The Potting Shed and local Foresters Arms provided great meals in a friendly atmosphere .
Lovely little cottage which has been thoughtfully equipped. A good base from which to explore the New Forest. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We'd definitely love to return.

Thank you so much, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, it was our pleasure to meet you and Debbie, also thank you for highlighting that we need to provide information for the Smart TV enabling access to the main television channels.
We look forward to welcoming you again, we hope at some future time.
Beautiful place with friendly accommodating owners. Tranquil setting. One of the best short breaks we have had. Would highly recommend. Couldn't fault it. Would definitely stay again.

A fab place to get away and recharge the batteries. Lovely accommodation, close enough to walk to pubs or cafe. Horses, donkeys, birds are in abundance. Peaceful place to stay and whilst the owners are nearby they respect your privacy

Dear Angeline and Albert,
It was a pleasure to meet you and we are pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay in the New Forest, we are however bemused that you state in your review that you ‘were expecting a separate bedroom’, the description clearly states that the cottage provides studio accommodation and we have taken care to ensure that the images of the interior show clearly that the bed and living area and kitchen are within the same room; for many of our guests this has been part of the charm of the cottage.
This amazing little cottage has everything you need and more for a great stay. The cottage has been renovated to an incredibly high standard. Outside you walk straight into the New Forest with its free roaming wildlife and amazing views. We found the Potting Shed cafe a very friendly place with great food. just a short walk from the cottage.
A brilliant surprise birthday present arranged for us by our children.
Beautiful quiet location.
Delightful small cottage, extremely well equipped and furnished.
Hosts were so friendly and helpful.
Many varied walks from the door, including through woods and fields on footpaths to Fordingbridge where we found much to enjoy.

Thank you so much , we are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure for Catherine and I to meet you both. We hope to welcome you again in the future.
Little Bacon is a very lovely, quaint little cottage. Though it offers studio style living, it has all mod cons very neatly and thoughtfully arranged. Information and directions from Paul were very thorough and easy to follow.
The cottage is very quiet and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A great location for exploring the wonders of the New Forest.
A delightful little cottage with everything you need. The walls keep it very cool in hot weather. Very quiet and comfortable.
A beautiful setting in a village full of wild life, deer, horses, rabbits, donkeys, hedgehogs and foxes.
The owners were very helpful.
I wish i could have stayed longer.
Lovely location in the New Forest lovely little cottage with all amenities coming out of the cottage to be with all the lovely animals first thing in the morning is just great with all the lovely walks in the surrounding area so there is no need to use your car if you don’t want to and the owners always keep in contact and contactable if required so excellent for us
This lovely little cottage would make a perfect base for a couple. Although small, it has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing break. It has a good sized shower room and very comfy bed. There is a pub serving good food a 5 minute walk away and stunning walks all around.
Travelling further afield is easy, there is a Park & Ride into Salisbury a 20 minute drive away and we also visited Stonehenge within an hour.
The hosts Paul & Catherine were very friendly and we can highly recommend this cottage
It's a lovely little cottage I enjoyed staying there. The owners of lovely people. however there's a couple of things I find the toilet extremely high, the television couldn't work it because you've got to use an app, and the oven was th same. As a middle-aged person I need something that's quick and easy to work.

Thank you, it was a pleasure to meet you both and have you staying at the cottage. We are sorry that you had some difficulties operating the Smart TV and combined oven/microwave. We have updated the information to provide clarification on how to use both of these we hope with ease.
We absolutely loved this little cottage. It had everything we needed as well as being soo adorably thatched with a pig atop!We were very comfortable, enjoying a hot shower after a days walking before rolling into bed. It was great.Paul and Catherine were the perfect hosts, checking we were ok then just leaving us to enjoy. It is down a lane with donkeys, ponies and rabbits on the doorstep. We didn’t use the car at all. The pub is 5 mins walk and we had some fabulous walks.
We booked this small holiday let at late notice due to a cancelled holiday. The property is compact but fully equipped with a good range of crockery etc. Hockey’s Farm Shop and the fabulous Royal Oak in North Gorley are a comfortable walk away.
Unfortunately due to the unexpected cold snap we were unable to take advantage of the private garden and found the property rather cool.

Dear Isabel,
Thank you for your review, It was a pleasure to meet you and Tony. Yes, it was a shame that for the latter part of your stay the weather changed. However, there was no need for you to have felt cool in the house as there is a very effective underfloor heating system. The welcome pack sent by email before your stay and with a printed copy in the cottage, details how to turn on the heating at the thermostat and furthermore we would have been only to happy to advise if we had been made aware of your concern during your stay. We hope to ‘welcome’ you again sometime in the future. Paul and Catherine
About the host
Hosted by MR PAUL KINNEAR
We live and work in London and have owned Bacons and Little Bacons (previously known as the Hovel) since 1991. The main house has been a lovely family home and more recently the Hovel has been fully refurbishd and has made into a lovely place to stay; the children are now 'grown-up' but we still love to come down to stay when we can, to enjoy the wonderful peace and tranquility.
Why they chose this property
Quiet, cosy, beautiful cottage ideal for a romantic stay, with plenty of lovely walks directly from the front gate. The cottage also provides a quiet and peaceful enviroment for work or study with good broadband wi-fi.
