About this property
Friendly & Comfortable Mountain Get-Away
Behind the street-side flat driveway and garage (great in winter) you'll enter the bright house from the western front deck (there is another deck off the back of the house which gets great morning light). You’ll feel connected to your friends and family in the warm and social atmosphere of the house’s layout. We welcome up to 6 adult guests, or with children (13 years and under) up to 8 guests.
The living room, dining room and kitchen are open to each other. Two entrance-level bedrooms face south and accommodate up to 6 people. There is a Primary Bedroom (west) with a queen bed, and a Family Bedroom (east) with a double bed and twin bunk.
You can expand upstairs into the Loft which has low walls and covers over half the floor plan, allowing for good air flow and a feeling of spaciousness. If you need to get work done, set up the folding desk or gaze out the windows. If quiet privacy is what you’re after, simply hide away. A twin bunk, double futon and queen futon can accommodate up to 6, for flexible sleeping arrangements.
Stay warm in cold months with a pellet stove, central gas heat and space heaters. The house stays relatively cool naturally all summer long; there are fans if desired.
Whether you’re cooking, relaxing on the couch, watching a movie, reading (many books are available to peruse during your stay), eating, or stretching after a long day out on the mountain, you’ll have the space to do it.
Friendly and Comfortable Mountain Get-Away is easy to get to on Northwoods BLVD, the main Tahoe Donner road, which gets plowed well, and since it is at the far end of the road’s loop, there is less traffic. Also, the driveway is plowed for you on heavy snow days, so you can get in and out. A true mountain life experience, after a storm, you may have to shovel the snow berm and walkway during your stay (or hire a local to do it for you).
Well-stocked but not excessive, you’ll find what you need to be comfortable, relax, and enjoy your vacation no matter what the season.
We look forward to hosting you.

About the host
Hosted by Ama Greenrose

Ama lives in Oakland, CA with her husband and daughters, and grew up downhill skiing on the east coast and in Europe. She took up cross-country to be easier on the knees. She loves to snow shoe and hike. Carol lives in New York and is an avid skier who has not missed a season for over 60 years. They bought this lovely vacation home to have a 'home base' in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, after Carol bought a condo in Park City, Utah before the Olympics. They love traveling to new areas around the country and world, but coming back to the same place year after year has it's advantages. Come visit our favorite year-round vacation spots and find out why!
Why they chose this property
I (Ama) found myself visiting Tahoe Donner year after year, renting different houses with groups of friends. When the idea struck our family to invest in a property, the answer to 'where?' was obvious. So I looked for a house that would accommodate a group of friends or a family (or two), that had 2 bathrooms, was easy to access even in bad weather, and felt comfortable to hang out in. I think we found just the right place!
What makes this property unique
I love taking advantage of the proximity to all of the ski areas. Decide everyday where the best snow and weather are, and go there. Remember to pack bathing suits in the car, so you can head to the jacuzzi on your way back home from the mountains or town... or maybe eat at one of the awesome restaurants at the ski areas or around Truckee, Tahoe City or Kings Beach.
As much as Winter in Tahoe is fabulous, Spring, Summer and Fall visits allow for hiking, biking, rock climbing, swimming, tennis, golf - there are several world class golf courses nearby, visiting the hot springs in Sierraville, exploring local history, boating and playing at the lakes (Donner and Tahoe). Also, check out nearby reservoirs.
There is always State Line or South Lake for a bit more excitement, and so much more it would take too long to add it all in here.
For my young family, we spend a lot of time hanging out and enjoying the house, the views out the window, and the Tahoe Donner amenities. We hope you will too!
