River Retreat - In Town Treat on The Chattahoochee River

Gaze out at the Chattahoochee River from just about every room. Open the windows and listen to the rippling flow of the water. Breathe the fresh air and enjoy the view from the deck or from the hot tub!

This cabin has fully-equipped kitchen and gas grill on the deck for meals cooked at home. Would you rather eat out? River Retreat is within walking distance to downtown Helen! Should you decide to cook and eat at the cabin, the cabinets are filled with all the cookware, dinnerware and glassware you will need. Come coffee time, you have the option of using the standard drip coffee maker or the one-cup Keurig found in the cupboards.

The cozy couch is the perfect spot to snuggle up near the gas fireplace on chilly evenings. There is a streaming TV for your entertainment, so don't forget to bring your channel subscription login information.

Bring some quarters with you and relive the 80's with a game of Pac-man or any of the other 28 games on the arcade machine upstairs.

The main floor king bedroom has a bath with a walk-in shower. The upstairs king bedroom shares a bath with the guests staying in the loft. This bath features a shower/tub combination and the television is for playing DVDs only. In the loft there is a full size bed for two and a futon for one.

This cabin has the perfect parking for those riding or bringing motorcycles up to the mountains. Please note that River Retreat has 23 steps from parking to the front door. Pets are not allowed at River Retreat.

• Minimum Age Requirement: River Retreat is available to families or to guests 21 years or older.
• Parking: Space is available for 3 vehicles.
• Access: The road and driveway are paved
• Pets: Pets are not allowed at River Retreat.
• Location: 1.2 miles to downtown Helen. Cabin on the River is located directly behind the Helen Water Park on the opposite side of the Chattahoochee River.
• Steps: The cabin is built on stilts and there are 20+ steps from the parking area up to the front door.

Perfect location

This cabin is nestled in the perfect spot in Helen! Just outside of town but within minutes of everything. Plenty of things to do and conveniently close to Helen tubing/water park. Would definitely recommend.

We liked that the property seemed private, even with houses close by. The direct access to the river was great though all the neighbors used it. The house was nice and worked well for us. We could walk to many places in the town.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upstairs bath tub and shower does not work. Burned out bulbs in the loft. Game in loft wasn’t working, maintenance came and ran an extension cord to a new plug and got it to work then you have to pay to play it🤦🏼‍♀️ was clean-ish. Could definitely use a sweep or mop under the tables and beds. Hanging lights had a lot of dead bugs. Did contact the rental company. They came out and looked at the issues but could only fix the game.

Birthday weekend!

The location is great to get to town, only a few minutes drive. There is a water park directly across from the house. Thankful it was closed for the season. The house needs some updating and we felt like they needed more kitchen items for cooking. There is only 1 dry measuring cup, bowls for mixing, etc The keypad on the door was not working, but the property manager came right there and got us in. The response time was great and she was very helpful! Overall we had an amazing weekend.

Great time cabin

Very nice, steps were a little concern. Cabin was beautiful, but upstairs TV didn't work. But we dealt with that. Small problem with passcode being changed, but they solved the problem as soon as we called them. Excellent service. We would stay there again.

Great cabin with lots to offer--only one negative

-My friends and I were very impressed with the River Retreat. You'll be within a 5-7 minute drive to most of the things to do in Helen, or a 15-20 minute walk. -The cabin was well-appointed with plenty of space. I loved that both bedrooms had king beds. -The only downside of the cabin we experienced is its proximity to the waterpark. There will be loud music from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day during the warmer months. You can easily hear it inside the cabin. Other than that, we were very impressed with our visit.

The only two issues I had was there was a bucket or planter of cigarette buds on the porch that was very full. We are non-smokers so this really grossed us out. Also, the hot tub smelled very musty. The view was deceiving. There’s a huge water park across the small creek. That was not shown in the pictures. It was a beautiful house and we had a good time.
