houseboat is the second one on the dock, close to the parking lot. Very easy to get to without packing all of your gear too far. Houseboat has a nice front porch, nice full kitchen, comfortable living room with big dish TV, two bedrooms with bunks, full bath, and washer/dryer. Will sleep 6 easily. Plenty of space to park your duck boats in the front or the rear, and your longer offshore boats along the side. Houseboat is 52 foot long. Or have your guide pick you up!

Perfect for what we needed

It was perfect for us. Easily accessible, clean, and just a good all around camp. Being right off the parking lot made unloading a breeze too. FWIW, it was me, a buddy, and two kids.

Doorstep pick-up & delivery

Decided to try a houseboat/camp in Venice to hunt big bull reds, and this place rocks. We dropped a pin location for the camp and our guide picked us up and dropped us off at our door each day. We recommend this well kept and furnished camp for a small group of fishers or hunters. Gervais was available and helpful at check-in and check-out. Big THX

Venice fishing is the best

Nothing to do with the property, but use bottle water in the coffee pot as venice water is not the best. Add a few more towels and wash rags please, and the gas grill does not work due to salt water corrosion. Other than that the stay was great and excellent fishing.

Houseboat sit too low from the dock walkway at low tide and it’s kind of hazardous at checking in time. No water hoses to clean your catches. No wheel cart to move your belongings and coolers to unloading area even though it’s a short distance. Walk way has soft spots/holes that prove to be hazardous too. Cold AC, nice interior settings. Pretty old beaten towels are my summary.

Fish camp

The houseboat interiors were very nice and owner was very cooperative. We did have problems with the TV reception, plus the Houseboat had an issue with one pontoon sinking in the back so we walked on a downhill slant most of the time. The neighbors were great and very friendly. Venice is a fish camp and there is not much to do after fishing. Grocery store is 35 miles away.

Disappointed - we won't be back

Last year we stayed here and the whole house was leaning really badly...but otherwise it was ok.This year, the Wifi was there, but pretty much unusable. The ice machine wasn't working and the grill was out of propane. I would expect to have been told about this BEFORE we arrived, and not just told why it was just "normal". I stay in Venice at least 2x a year and that is not "normal". We won't be back there.

Yes, it is normal to have issues in Venice. Number one, the houseboat isn’t sitting on a concrete foundation, it’s floating in a saltwater environment. We had floatation issues last year and they have been addressed. If the WiFi goes out, which it has happened before, there wasn’t anything anyone could have done to fix that in your timely manner, Venice is the end of the world. The water pressure in Venice is horrible and when the pressure is too low it trips ice machines which is usually the case. If our ice machine goes out, it may take a week to get someone out of New Orleans to repair it. Lastly, we do not provide propane, and we don’t claim to. Sorry your experience wasn’t up to par. Good luck in the future and I hope you find better accommodations.

Almost 5 stars

Overall this was not a bad place to stay compared to others that I have stayed in there, BUT one big thing was when the tide went out you had to crawl out of the houseboat to get to the pier and to get back in you had to jump down. My wife is short and this was hard for her. The other thing was there was no ice scoop for the ice maker which was not a deal breaker but would have been nice if there was one (other places had them).

Nice boat house

Stay was great! had a little trouble finding the boat house and getting in but no big deal. I did call the owner and ask a few legitimate questions about ac, how to work TV etc because there were three remotes and some were missing batteries. Batteries were delivered the next day while we were fishing and the owner stopped by again to see if ac was working well and it was. What he did not realize is, I was in the bedroom while he was talking to my customer and telling him he just wanted to check on the AC because the lady there before them was complaining about the thermostat showing 72 but then he took it a step further and told my customer "but then again, she complained about everything" It was a nice boat house but if you decide to rent it, don't ask any questions or take the chance of being embarrassed in front of your customers/guests by the owner.

Great Houseboat in Venice Marina

Always a great stay at the Hoos and Blues, and this trip was no different. This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay while you get out on the water for some world class fishing! Highly recommended!!!!!
