Clean and quiet
We loved the charm and quiet location! The deli down the road was amazing, it took us 10 minutes to get to all restaurants! We were pleasantly surprised to locate a state park and swimming area literally down the road! Perfect location, peaceful and charming! We will definitely be back!
Nice area for hiking and shopping close by in Manchester, VT. House was clean, stocked with dishes and cookware with a nice layout. We enjoyed playing boardgames by the fire.
A lovely home with a large wrap-around deck allowed us to enjoy the beautiful Vermont scenery and fresh air. This space is great for relaxing, taking in the beautiful foliage, or grilling in the warmer months.
Nice property in a great location. Being on a hill the porch felt like you were in a treehouse. Check in was easy, place was clean when we arrived. Some of the furniture/beds were on the well used side, but still comfortable. Great place for the price, especially with very minimal additional charges like we found in other properties.

Scott thanks for taking the time to review our property. We do renovations to the house every year and just replaced all of the windows.
Good place for our hiking group. Place was spacious and private location. Inside was good. Outside the furniture was not cleaned - for a long time. Was not able to use outside for dining.
This house is in a convenient location - a great spot for skiers. The deck is large, and it was pleasant to hear the running brook below the property. It snowed while we were there, and being able to put the cars in the garage was a big plus. The house was comfortable and clean, with all of the supplies we needed. Even though there is only one upstairs bathroom, it is well partitioned into separate private areas. There is a bit more wear and tear than is apparent from the online pictures, and the first floor had a musty smell until the heat had run for a while. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent this house again.
Nice property just outside the village of Peru. Great hikes nearby (Hapgood Pond, West River Trail, Appalachian Trail). Property was clean and well- equipped with good heat, hot water and WiFi. Cellular was spotty with Verizon as is often the case in the mountains. Lovely villages nearby. Enjoyed side trips to the top of Stratton, Billings Farm and Woodstock, the Vermont Country Store and Chester. Hosts were just a text away. Note: living quarters on the second floor, so must be able to do stairs.
Perfect for relaxation and tranquility!
Owner Ted was accommodating and allowed the fire place to be lit during Labor Day as it was 45 degrees outside at night. Beautiful wrap around porch, woods and a babbling brook that is beautifully heard at night.
I needed this and I will be back!
Thank you Ted and Bridget!!
We enjoyed our stay in Peru and loved the proximity of JJ Hapgood General Store for morning coffee and food. We took advantage of nearby hiking Bromley, Bromley Adventure Park and Hapgood Pond, which is always beautiful and peaceful. The deck and stream running behind the house were lovely. Owners made sure we had settled in well, and we felt very comfortable in the house.
This place was so quiet and peaceful. And the house and furnishings were great. In between so many little villages. We hope to make it back here next year !!
What a great home in a beautiful part of Vermont. Ted and Bridget have created a wonderful getaway, cozy and inviting. The main room is a very striking loft-like space you won't want to leave, and touches like brick and wood make it nice to look at as well. Plenty of room for sleeping and spreading out, with a surprisingly big kitchen to boot. The deck is perfect.
Their communication and messaging was also spot-on, as was the hospitality. Wood arrived for the fireplace the second day of our stay, and they made sure to bring a whole bunch of it over so we could build a great fire. They were helpful and generous and hospitable in every way. Highly recommend.
Beautiful property in the woods but close to everything
We had a great stay at this property. The house was clean and comfortable and as pictured in the listing. There's a beautiful brook running in the forest behind the property. Ted was very easy to deal with and incredibly responsive. There are terrific hikes in the National Forest very close by, but also lots of restaurants and shops close by in Manchester.
Hiking, swimming, paddling, farmer's markets, farmstands and general stores, birdwatching—Peru has everything you want. It's quiet, gorgeous, and full of outdoor adventures. The house is perfectly situated, and it's super-duper functional for a group, with a wraparound porch to hang out on, a big lawn, and a big open floor plan that gives everyone enough space. Plus, the property manager and owners are super responsive and easy to deal with. Great stay!
A large home situated over a large garage (good for Winter visits). Stairs up to the living area where there is a large family room with a great fireplace. Best feature is the tremendous deck overlooking the woods. Well equipped kitchen and nice to have a washer and dryer.
We were there over the 4th of July weekend and the neighbor across the street has a large and noisy lawn tractor and cut his grass for hours all 3 days. In the evenings and overnight, it was very calm and quiet.
We hope to return.
The house was in great shape and the garage was a great benefit and helped us feel secure while there. Ted made sure to leave out a roaster and turkey platter and purchased an oven and meat thermometer since he knew we were cooking our Thanksgiving dinner while there. He replied in a timely manner to any questions. Area is quaint. Loved the nearby stream that you can look over from the wrap around porch! Definitely looking into a return trip someday!
We had a great time at this home. We enjoyed the cozy fire and great location to Bromley and Stratton. We liked being close to JJ Hapgoods and Bromley Market as well as Jake's Tavern. It was the perfect fall getaway! We will be back!
I’ll admit being a little wary when I got to the house because from the outside it didn’t look like it had in the pictures. That said, the inside was beautiful, clean, and perfect for what we needed for that weekend.
Very nice property - clean and well maintained. kitchen well fitted out. Good location for manchester and londonderry. Only quibble was there were no directions for how to get DVD player working so I gave up. Would come back again.
wonderful, relaxing time in this house with 2 new beautiful sliding doors/rectangle windows looking out on to wraparound deck. My husband and his friend sat out every night. I enjoyed the inside LR with tv/DISH with my faithful small dog beside me. Plenty of room with 4 BRs, one double twin on entry floor, climb stairs to top main floor with 3 other BRs/kitchen/LR. Decorated with NE wood 'retro furniture' accept for LR chairs/sofa. Trees and yard all around in a great area, easy to get to Manchester grocery stoers, Hapgoods general store was yummy....Raven's Den or nest had fantastic dinners! Casual atmosphere with homey rooms. Would definitely rent again. Near state parks/hiking/etc...neighbors wave to you! Really nice rural area for us suburbanites to get away--different way of life! Charcoal grill, deck chairs/lounge chairs. Garage! This is a casual place to rent-see older photos, but still accurate. Great for larger groups, although we were only 3 and a small dog. Glad we took a chance on a reasonable property. About 11 miles from Stratton. We went during Summer--take a fan with you for your bedroom though as we had an unusual HOT week when we went, which may be the new norm! Take a chance during off-peak times! Enjoy the greenery everywhere with the brook running near by. Calming. If you have very young toddlers-watch out for drop behind property to brook.

Lovely property. Great owner.
We booked this house as the overflow house of a large group retreat. The place is lovely. Ted and Bridget are both very responsive, which made the last-minute coordination very easy for us.
