About this property
Nestled in Lush Landscape Near New Paltz Village
Hudson Valley couple/artist/family/adventurer's home base, or romantic retreat. Perfect for a couple in need of time, space and sprawl in our king sized en suite and cozy open plan living space. Also comfortably accommodates 2 couples, a family with children, or a group of up to 8.
The house is a Mid-century 3 bedroom cape set back on a ridge, in a private wooded glen. 6 mins from Village life in New Paltz, Waterstreet Market and its restaurants and shops walkable on nearby Wallkill Rail Trail. One min from Wallkill River put-in, 15 mins from Minnewaska State Park, 11 minutes to Mohonk, Peters Kill, Split Rock, the Gunks and several delicious Farm to Table eateries, craft breweries, distilleries and vineyards including Wildflower Farms, where you can dine at their extravagant Clay restaurant and save on accomodation by booking your own cozy family retreat here. The house contains many nooks and private spots to find solitude, even in a group: a breakfast nook, ample open plan living/ dining room; a media lounge in proximity to kitchen . Art supplies, turn-table, vinyl and upright piano.
The property features deck, porch, hammock, berry garden, organic flower and seasonal vegetable garden, trampoline, zip line and a small grill finishes off the outdoor fun and relaxation. Kiddie pool and hose available on request.
Enter through a convenient new custom, built-in, maple wood mudroom with decorative tile and underfloor heating extending throughout the kitchen to keep your tootsies warm while making coffee on a chilly morn. The house has beautiful solid wood floors throughout and charming stone hearth/wood burning stove. Decor is warm and inviting. Great library for readers and a cook's kitchen with brand new oven.
Washer and dryer, available upstairs. Clothesline outdoors for sun dried clothes. AC units in every bedroom, ceiling fans in breakfast nook, master suite and porch. A mini-split heater/ac in master suite and baseboard heating with convenient thermostats throughout.
Vaulted upstairs master king sized bedroom with hand made ambrosia maple bed, skylights and en suite bathroom with shower/tub. Downstairs private queen sized room with full bath on hall. Upstairs guest room has four-poster bed with full mattress, & room on floor for additional full sized mattress, which we have. Perfect for 4 adults and 3 kids but room for more, as there is a pull out Hans Wegner full-sized sofa in living room as well as sleepable single sofa and air mattress available.
This is not a cold rental but a warm family home. Board games, kids books, art supplies, etc.

About the host
Hosted by Kaethe

We moved from the city to this gorgeous part of NY just a year ago and have been lovingly upgrading and decorating our home. We fell for the cool details, wide wood plank floors, mid-century lines and ambling layout of the house. The wooded grounds consist of rolling dells and soft lawns. Several noble old growth oak and elm tower over the cedar and hickory trees. We are a professional clown and a playwright and the detached artist workshop is a boon for private contemplation or work for us as a couple. The green sprawl is a child's natural wonderland and our daughter loves the purple treehouse (open to all!).
Why they chose this property
It offers space and privacy but is centrally located. It has a bountiful organic garden of its own and is minutes from any other libation or food source you might want. Excellent star gazing. The house has a truly beautiful lay out and flow.
