About this property
Sea View Cottage, The Little Yellow Cottage By the Sea
Sea View - the little yellow cottage is an old coastal cottage it has been lovingly restored with your comfort in mind. Just metres away from Sandgate beach you will hear the rolling of the waves on the shingle beach as the tide rises nearly 3.5 metres from low to high tide. As the tide recedes it reveals on part of the beach a stretch of rocks to explore for sea life.
At the front of the cottage is a small garden area where you can sit watch the sea & beach life go past at your leisure. Sandgate is not just a great destination for holidays, but it is home to local people who work and enjoy the quirky nature of the small village with its range of Cafes & traditional pubs.
Living area - You enter the cottage through a small entrance hall with a restroom attached. The living areas are comfortably laid out to accommodate up to 5 people. In the lounge area there is a double sofa bed which is required if the cottage is hosting more than 4 people. Popular with many of of our guests particularly the younger ones is the conservatory area with its window seat overlooking the beach and sea.
Bedrooms - There are two bedrooms. A double master bedroom with particular fine views of the sea to wake up to. The twin beds in the second bedroom can be made up into a double bed on request. We provide a travel cot, stair gate and high chair for the youngest guests.
Media & Technology - The main living area is equipped with a HD TV linked to all free view channels. The cottage has a BT high speed broadband connection.
Kitchen- The kitchen is fully equipped for those who wish to dine in with electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, coffee machine and kettle. The kitchen is also equipped with fridge freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine.
Bathroom - The main bathroom has a large bath/ shower. The shower provides powerful instant warmth for those who have come in from bathing in the sea. The bathroom contains the gas central heating unit.
Outdoors - The cottage has a small outdoor area where you can feel the sun & sea and watch the world go past. There are chairs and tables provided.
Parking - The cottage is in an old conservation area with limited parking on the sea front and for restricted hours. However, the cottage backs on to the Castle Road public car park. Car parking costs just over £5 per day with Ringo.
Pets - Pets are welcome for a small additional charge. We are happy to welcome up to two well behaved dogs but please not on the furniture or upstairs. The local area is fairly dog friendly although the dogs are not allowed on the main beach areas between May and September.
Activities - There are no shortage of local activities available for young and old. The cottage is right next to Route 2 of the UK's cycle network taking you the full length of the south coast. There are a number of local cycle hire companies - for a short hire there is the local click to cycle bikes in the park opposite the entrance to our road. At Folkestone harbour and at Seabrook there are sea canoes and boards for hire. If you are a keen sea fisherman you will see, especially during the evenings, the locals fishing off the beach. In the cottage welcome pack we describe a number of local walks but there are plenty to choose from either by the sea or across the North Downs.
For children there is a short walk to the Lower Leas play park with a fantastic adventure playground. For young pirates the wreck will challenge their imaginations and possibly the patience of parents keen to move on.

Beautiful cottage the seaside is right outside the doorway. We had a brilliant Christmas stay with our two young children. The cottage is cozy and has everything you need including high chair and stair gate. We enjoyed walking along the beach to lower leas park with the kids, it's all flat so very buggy friendly and relaxing in the window seats looking out to sea. Would love to visit the cottage again. Definitely recommend this property."

"We recently stayed here with our two granddaughters during the school half term holiday. Having previously lived in the area, we were familiar with Sandgate and were also aware of the parking restrictions, but there was always space available either on the seafront or in the adjacent car park. Yes, Sea View Cottage is an old building, but it oozes character and is warm & cosy with all the homely comforts you would need. It's in a great location for walks along the beach as well as visiting local tourist attractions. We wouldn't hesitate in returning again in the future."
