Fabulous 4star house ( with adjoining and 1bedroomed Annex that is also listed and bookable separately) in quiet scenic seaside location with great beaches and wonderful views of the sea and mountains, yet just 40 minutes to Knock airport and 2.5 hours drive to Dublin airport. The location is particularly suited to familites or to Golf or Surfing enthusiasts who want a central base to sample what Ireland North West has to offer. A major attraction is the very popular Beach Bar, an authentic old world pub/restaurant which is only 5 minutes walk from the house.

Blessed to find this property in such a picturesque, quiet spot. Super handy for beach days and watching the evening sunset just 5 minutes walk. And just a few minutes further was the beach bar that had gorgeous food. A very happy family holiday.

Great stay

This was a great house for a family of six to spread out and relax and enjoy. The kitchen was well equipped. We loved waking up at in the beautiful countryside and hearing the cows and sheep and then to be walking distance to the beach was just wonderful. We caught up on laundry while we were there and we were fortunate that the weather was good and we can use the clothesline.

Spacious house in a fabulous location

We were a party of seven adults and two dogs, visiting family and for birthday celebrations. There was plenty of room in the house and more than enough crockery etc. for our group. The location is great, just a few minutes walk from the beach. We ‘practised’ walking to the Beach Bar on several occasions! Sheila was quick to respond to any queries. And we had two weeks of Irish sunshine. A lovely stay and we would happily return.

Family stay for local Wedding

Lovely stay, close to beach and pub with food, very comfortable, enjoyed the dinning room for dinner once the tinies were in bed, plenty of space and lovely walks, plenty of parking and perfect for our family group. Loved the play pen for 2 x 8 month olds! Downstairs room was perfect for Grandad! Great views. Sheep next door! Highly recommend this house.

Beautiful house in lovely location

Our family of 7 adults had a fantastic holiday in Aughris house. Spacious house with pet allowed. Well equipped kitchen with tea coffee and milk plus herbs and spices provided by Sheila. Location of house is spectacular - right on beach and short walk to the beach bar which was very welcoming though should be noted dogs are not allowed inside. Beautiful house in a fabulous location.

Perfect spot

We ( two families with 2 children under 6 each) stayed here for a long weekend. We loved the proximity to the beach, to the view as well as cows and sheep, and access to the beach bar which was excellent. The house though plenty large enough for us, was very open, which meant sounds travelled ( babies crying either early in the morning or late at night). It was cozy and had all that we needed. Host was so lovely and helpful, easy to reach if we needed anything.

This was very big beautiful home, I would say for us the only problem was that it was far from everything which is nice to get away but we traveled a lot to do different experiences so it just took us longer to get to our other destinations. I would still recommend staying here to get away and the home owner was very good with communication. On a side note there was a beach bar which was cool to drink at we definitely didn’t enjoy the food there but the beach was beautiful and it was literally only a 5 minute walk from the house

Very Comfortable House

We had a hugely enjoyable three night stay over New Year - family of six adults and two children. House was spacious, warm and very comfortable. Location is further from the magnificent Beach Bar than indicated on the site - about a 10-min walk or the same drive - but not really a problem especially not on good weather - but otherwise a splendid, quiet and remote haven. Food and drinks in Beach Bar are superb - and they also do takeaways. Only slight negative about the house is that what is billed as a twin-room for one of the bedrooms is really a single. However, we all said that we would definitely return- which I hope says it all.

Insgesamt haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt in dem großen Haus mit 4 Schlafzimmern inmitten von Schafweiden. Ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge, Wanderungen und am Meer chillen. Bis zum Strand waren es nur wenige Meter und die Kleinstadt Sligo war in knapp 20 Minuten erreichbar.

Recently spent a week in The Beach House and loved it. Great house in a beautiful place and only a short walk to a fantastic beach. This was especially useful as we had our dog with us and he virtually had the beach to himself. Would recommend.

Der Kontakt mit Sheila war immer einfach und unkompliziert. Das Haus selbst liegt ziemlich einsam an einer winzigen Straße zum Meer. Bei Gegenverkehr ist das schon recht abenteuerlich. Es sind nur ein paar Meter zum Strand und man hört nur Möwen und die Kühe und Schafe der umliegenden Weiden. Ansonsten Stille und die Aussicht aufs Meer und die Berge rund um Sligo. Wunderbar. Im Haus selbst kann man sich richtig wohlfühlen. Es ist gemütlich eingerichtet und es fehlt an nichts. Und wenn man keine Lust zum Kochen hat, ist die Beach Bar mit gutem Pubessen nur einen Katzensprung entfernt.

We are a family of 4, living on a working farm in Sligo.
We have been happily involved in the Self Catering business since 2006 with our very popular Beach House in Aughris. In 2012 we bought and renovated another property The Snug in Dunkineely, South Donegal, for our own use and also as a Holiday Let.
In 2017 we added The Landmark ( also in Aughris, 1km from Beach House) to our Holiday Let offerings. This has two separate units ( 3bed and 1bed), is also of a very high standard and is also advertised on this site.

Both properties are in wonderful locations on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Why they chose this property

We purpose-built the house with separate annex for self-catering in 2006 because we know that it is situated in a fantastic location, beside the sea with lovely sandy beaches as well as the ever-popular Beach Bar.This is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The location is truly a walkers paradise. Many of our guests are families that bring their pets and spend their days on the many sandy beaches around. Aughris is ideally located for people wanting to explore the North West of Ireland. Some guests do day trips, maybe Donegal one day, Achill the next with some R&R in between. Others spent their time walking, fishing, surfing or golfing in the different hotspots around (Enniscrone, Strandhill, Rosses Point).

What makes this property unique

The house is just two minutes walk to 2 miles of sandy beaches. A five minute walk takes you to the very popular Beach Bar so you don't have to worry about transport. The Restaurant at the Beach Bar is open at weekends and nightly in High Season and is very popular with our guests.
The pub is open all year around with entertainment in high season.
This is an authentic old-world thatched pub and we are very fortunate to have such a popular establishment so close the the Beach House.
