About the host
Hosted by Caron Williams
We bought this smallholding back in 2000 for our family of six. By 2016 all of the four children had flown the nest leaving us in rather a big but very homely property. Not wanting to sell or move from the area we decided to live in a "log cabin" on the land and holiday cottage the house so that other people could enjoy the house and the location. Oh! it also meant that we could pay the mortgage off quicker. In all sincerity, we have not looked back, the house has been very busy and we have got to know people from all over the world who have come to enjoy the house and the location.
Our three girls have stayed in the area raising their young families while our son who has enjoyed some success in the music industry as a member of the duo Dusky Grey spends most of his time in London pursuing his dreams when he isn't producing music in his studio in the woods.

Why they chose this property
Carreg y Garth Isaf (The Lower Battle Rock) is a stone built farmhouse that dates back to the 18th Century. Once owned by the landowner Lord Pennant of Penrhyn Castle, the owner of the largest slate quarry in Europe, The Penrhyn Quarry and sugar plantations in Jamaica. Today, it is still used as a smallholding with ducks, hens, jacob sheep and pigs.
Carreg y Garth Isaf is perfectly located on the foothills of Snowdonia where so many amenities are easily within reach. There is something for everyone in the area ranging from one of the longest and fastest zip wire rides in the world to leisurely beach walks along the many beaches and so much more.

What makes this property unique
Carreg y Garth Isaf has wonderfully elevated views of Anglesey looking down over the Menai Straights, Beaumaris and Penrhyn Castle. From the property there are a plethora of walks/bike rides in every direction and only 1/2 a mile from the nearest pub/restaurant which serves very good food. In the village our local taxi firm is always there to step in if the walk may be a little too much, especially on your way back from the pub!
