La Grange - Cottage that overlooks miles of woodland

THE PROPERTY

La Grange is an exceptionally spacious 3-bedroom house with en suite showers and swimming pool. It is perfect for 2 couples, 4 children and 2 or more babies. The ground floor includes a large modern kitchen, dining room for 12 and a huge open plan space with sitting and casual dining spaces. The top floor with a snug TV/DVD room on a mezzanine that links to the 2 upper bedrooms via bridges. The house has large grounds including outside seating and dining and a large stone BBQ and sun lounging area. The pool is shared with guests in L'Etable and Le Vigneron.

Guests have access to the extensive grounds below which include table tennis, kids play area and lots of lawn.

LOCATION
La Grange is in the quiet village of Puyjourdes from where you can visit the charming Market towns of Cajarc, Limogne, Villeneuve, Villefranche all of which are less than 15 kilometres away. Other towns to visit include some of the prettiest villages in France such as St.-Cirq-Lapopie, Figeac, Cahors and Conques.

To work off the good food and take a break from the pool there are plenty of Road and Mountain Bike riding paths around the village and in the wider LOT region. Horse riding, walking, kayaking, swimming, water skiing, caving, climbing, parapenting are all within a easy drive or bike ride. Many people however just want to lie by the pool, cook on the BBQ, read and perhaps take an evening stroll through the village.

Quelle déception !

Nous sommes un groupe de 8 personnes avec 2 chiens et avons été très déçus de notre location chez John. La maison ne correspond malheureusement pas du tout à l annonce. Le temps a laissé sa marque et tout le matériel est dégradé par le temps ou la saleté! La maison n est pas ou peu entretenue: Baignoire inutilisable, frigo cassé, chasse d eau qui fuit, portail cassé, alentour de la piscine dangereux( lames de bois saillantes), canapés tachés...la liste est longue. Par contre, notre hôte a essayé de tenir compte de nos remarques ( réparation lave linge, amener ou acheter le materiel manqant : égouttoir, couverts,assiettes, poubelles et sac). En espérant que l'hôte continue ses efforts dans la restauration et l'entretien de son logement. Passez votre chemin!

Agréable séjour à Puyjourdes

Nous avons passé un agréable moment à Puyjourdes dans la maison d’Hamish. Robert et Mariette qui nous ont bien accueilli et ont répondu à nos demandes (besoin de parasols, etc…) . La maison est grande et la piscine agréable. Les lattes en bois de la piscine étaient un peu usées mais Hamish a fait des travaux cet été pour en remettre de neuves.

Nous avons séjourné 1 semaine dans ce logement très spacieux et parfaitement équipé. Le jardin est également très appréciable, ainsi que la piscine et les nombreux équipements dont nous avons pu bénéficier pour nos enfants.

spacious domicile in a dreamlike location

The property offers enough space for large families or groups, with the possibility to get together or have individual time. The area is quiet and lets you relax quickly and well. Nevertheless, shopping and leisure facilities are within easy reach. We had a great time and can only recommend the stay.

Repos et tranquillité

La maison et l’environnement sont idéales pour se ressourcer. Les chambres à l’étage sont très chaudes. un ventilateur serait le bienvenu pour rafraîchir l’air la nuit.

Magnifique séjour

Un chouette séjour dans une magnifique propriété aménagée avec goût et pragmatisme. Un rideau pour séparer la salle de bains de la mezzanine serait plus intime. Un léger effort devrait être fait au niveau de la poussière mais on y reviendrait avec plaisir

Zalige twee weken vakantie gehad in Puyjourdes (5 volwassenen, 4 kinderen tussen 5 en 10 jaar, 2 honden). Zeer ruime woning met 3 grote slaapkamers mét eigen badkamer (pluspunt). Grote omheinde tuin (ideaal voor de honden) met een leuk, vrij groot zwembad. Twee zeer vriendelijke dames die als aanspreekpunt fungeerden. Heel mooie omgeving met gezellige dorpjes in de buurt (Carjarc, Saint Cirq La Popie, …), leuke (pittige) wandelingen, en uitgestrekte natuur. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Enkele opmerkingen (zeker géén kritiek): te kleine ijskast voor 9 personen, weinig schaduw, mieren en vliegen in de woning. Online onduidelijk dat het om 3 aparte gîtes gaat met gedeeld zwembad.

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans une maison magnifique et dans une région superbe. le Lot est encore très préservé , très beau et très accueillant. Tous les villages que nous avons visité sont magnifiques, avec des maisons ravisantes et la maison d'Emma à Puyjourdes en fait partie Elle est très bien aménagée, spacieuse, propre et surtout dans un environnement extremement silencieux. Dans la piscine, nous avons à perte de vue les paysages du Lot. Je recommande cette maison à 100%. Merci encore à Emma pour sa gentillesse et de nous faire partager sa jolie maison.

Indrukwekkende locatie in een zeer rustige omgeving

We hebben er een heel leuke week op zitten in Puyjourdes. Het verblijf ligt in een zeer rustige omgeving, ver van alle drukte en verkeer. We hebben echt genoten van het weidse zicht over 'des Causses du Quercy' vanop het terras, aan de bbq en aan het zwembad. Het huis is zeer ruim en heeft alle comfort dat je kan verwachten van een vakantiewoning. Voor ons is de keukeninrichting, het sanitair en de kwaliteit van de bedden belangrijk en hierop was weinig aan te merken (in de keuken hadden we wat last van vliegen (vliegenvanger gekocht) mar de keuken zelf was top en op de slaapkamers op de verdieping was het een beetje arm (ventilator aangezet 's nachts) maar de beden lagen zeer goed). In de omgeving zijn er leuke dorpjes om te bezoeken. Ook hadden we onze e-bikes mee waar we aardig wat kilometertjes mee gebold hebben. De omgeving is hier zeer geschikt voor. Deze vakantiewoning is dus zeker een aanrader.

Fijne vakantie gehad!!!!!

Fijne vakantie gehad,het huis en de omgeving was prachtig ,voldoende materiaal voor wel 12 personen aanwezig ,perfecte bedden,op elke kamer een ventilator voor warme nachten. Ook een fijn zwembad dat goed onderhouden werd ,in de mooie grote tuin. Wij hadden wel veel last van vliegen ,maar daar kan de verhuurder niets aan doen,een vliegenklopper of twee en we konden ze wel te baas.Alles samengevat perfecte vakantie gehad. Splendid familyholiday. THE house and garden is cosy and has god atmosphere. Puyjourdes is a nice little village with friendly people. You need a car because IT is about 20 km to the shops in Villefranche. We had a good connection with the owner, Emma, ahead of our stay. The neighbours, Alice and Guy, helped us during the stay in Emma's place. We would love to come back.

An idyllic gite situated in outstanding French countryside

Large old comfortable house, overlooking a valley, beautiful sunrise to be seen from the bedroom window, excellent views of the valley from the rear terrace, large garden, well equipped kitchen, lots of excellent walks nearby and canoeing on the Lot, good sized swimming pool, and last but not the least friendly and hospitable hosts. Please ensure that you bring basic provisions with you as the nearest shops are 15 kms away and they shut early.

Beautiful House, Beautiful location, Brilliant!!!!

This place is fantastic! I came hear with my family and it was just the thing we needed. The house my brother and I stayed in was fantastic and classically old. The house had three wonderful floors all were extremely clean and well equipped with two showers! In one of the bedrooms there is this massive window with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The house is also a really nice sitting room with a large TV useful for movie nights (with a large selection of brilliant movies). The pool gives a great view of the surrounding countryside in which the house is situated. The area also has lots of family friendly activities such as scenic bike rides. This place is superb I cannot recommend it enough!!

Belle maison ancienne refaite avec goût et offrant tout le confort désiré pour passer de très bonnes vacances dans un cadre très reposant. Les enfants se sont beaucoup amusés dans la très grande piscine et la maison est idéalement située pour découvrir toutes les merveilles de la région ( st cyr, villefranche, carjarc etc etc). les propriétaires sont charmants. Beautiful and clean house in a lovely aera!

On arrival we were well received by the owner. She explained everything about the house. The owners were very helpful throughout the week. The house had a nice atmosphere, it's the perfect combination between an authentic french house and modern needs. It was totally clean upon arrival and everything was up to high standards. The bedrooms and bathrooms were big enough. The wifi, kitchen appliance and washing machines worked okay. The pool was clean and had a perfect temperature to cool down. There were a lot of games available for us to use. We played a lot of table tennis. The house also has a huge DVD-collection that we used. The view from the house was beautiful. Everything was nearby, within 15 minutes driving there was a huge supermarket. The only small downsides to our holiday were: We could not use 1 shower the first day (due to repairs). Secondly, there were some problems with the sink and dishwasher but the owner did his best to fix everything as fast as possible.

OK, but needs work

I live in France and have been holidaying in the general area of this property for the last 3 years. So for the price I have an idea of what to expect. For me the problems were: dishwasher full of mouldy dishes on arrival (3 hot washes and then hand wash to put right), pool has no fence for child safety (there is an electric cover that the owner never used), pool decking is falling apart (inc. nails sticking out and boards falling into pool - caused my youngest to fall in), pool not cleaned in 2 weeks, pool furniture broken, pools has no shallow end for children, 1st floor shower leaked through to ground floor (had to stop using it in our second week), phone socket hanging out of wall, no change of bedding for week 2, some kitchen utensils well past used by date. Plus points: nice location (very peaceful), beautiful scenery and pretty towns nearby.

Hi there Woops big time. It sounds like from your review we really messed up and we apologise. We wish we had known about the dishes then we could have at least given you some clean sheets or a gite clean mid way to compensate. Hamish did spend 1 1/2 hrs trying to fix the shower. Amongst other things he ran the shower for ten minutes and nothing showed. We now think that it must be the floor of the shower when someone is standing on in it so we sent someone around this Saturday again to re do the base. These problems do arise and sometimes they are not straight forward to fix. I am not sure we communicated very well what we were trying to do about it. Also the swimming pool has a state of art salt cleaning system which was in operation while you were there all the time. We were waiting for a wheel for our robot to arrive in our local pool shop but the pool was always clean and i know Hamish took some leaves out every other day or so. Our swimming pool is routinely commented on as a major plus point for cleanliness and its size and uniform depth of 1.5 metres but I suppose not everything is for everybody but it is still disappointing to hear that you didn't like it. The pool cover has instructions in the gite on how to close it and we leave it to our clients to do this as they wish. The pool cover is very much operational and some people make full use of it. And I don't take bookings for children under five years of age unless the parents tell me they are happy with the situation. I turn away at least two bookings a year with young children because we don't have fencing but we comply with the safety regulations as well. I am so sorry, it doesn't sound like you had a great holiday. We are not used to unhappy clients and i am not sure what to do about it now that your holiday is over. Perhaps we should have had a sit down and a drink half way. We were planning to ask you to do this but time slipped away while we were trying to get away on holiday ourselves! May be this was the source of the problem! Please let us know if there is anything we can do now to make you feel better about your experience with us. But it is probably all too late now and classically we should have found time to talk earlier. Best wishes, Emma
