New Orleans visit
Very nice stay for two. Excellent location as it’s close to ferry to take you to New Orleans/French quarter and beyond but much quieter. A few bars and restaurants in area. All good. No check in instructions received though and had to call when we arrived

Clean, modern, well-stocked, quiet
The apartment is light and airy, air-conditioning works fantastic. Nice decor and fixtures, appliances look new and work well. Bed was comfortable. Location is great, only a few blocks from the Algiers ferry. If you’re interested in enjoying New Orleans, but prefer to sleep in a quiet neighborhood, this is a good choice.

Good property. 3 things that frustrated me 1 the bed was hard rock first night was torture trying to get comfortable and fall asleep and it was also small for two tall people like me and my husband, also the covers and the pillow could’ve been better. 2 it was very hard trying to stay asleep or even sleep in after 6-7 am because when someone is walking upstairs it’s very very loud first morning there it was like someone was stomping around with heals. 3rd thing was had a hard time always locking the door every time we left and the window in the living room doesn’t lock like you look it but it will still open definitely kept me the last night I found this out. Other then all of that If you want peace and quiet away from all the craziness this is the place to be. Very convenient! Only a 5 minute walk to the ferry that literally only takes like 5 minutes to get to the other side we walked to the French quarter not far at all but it is a lot of walking ! So make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Taking the ferry was a lot more convenient then taking our car because you spend 30 minutes to an hour looking for parking and traffic is horrible. So if you’re spending your day exploring around the French quarter advise you to take the ferry and walk it.

Very nice VRBO
Perfect for us as we were visiting family and we only had a 5 min. walk. As we have been to New Orleans many times we are very familiar with the area. Very close to the ferry to bring you to the French Quarter or other points of interest in the city. Also if you have a vehicle, close to a supermarket! Bea and Richard very nice people and we certainly enjoyed our stay!

Lovely apartment, spacious and comfy, walking distance to ferry and bus stop, Uber availability in few minutes. Booked via German website and not all messages came through promptly, only glitch in a wonderful week, definitely we’d check in again on a next occasion.

Convenient to NOL
Unfortunately we were, both, under the weather for half of stay. But did enjoy the several trips to New Orleans and riverboat rides. Navigating the streets of Algiers was an experience. Housing was private, comfortable and adequate. All items worked

Not what I expected
Pros- Apartment condo, with separate living, a kitchen and a small patio/backyard . Cons- 1. Smart tv - internet was slow so we could not watch netflix or youtube. The tv did not serve any purpose. 2. Isolated area, it was extremely hard to get a cab to the French Quarter. 3. No hospitality from the host, the man did not offer to help my elder guest with her bag, which is not the norm in new orleans. 4. Came back to the rental to a barking dog who could have attacked me, the backyard should had been private to only our unit. I was scared to access the backyard the rest of my stay. I’m also highly allergic to dogs . 5.I had to wipe inside the drawers clean because of hair and dirt 6. The utensils in the drawer were not clean. 7. After I checked in the dishwasher was full of dishes. Strange. I visited new orleans over 7 times, i will not stay here again.

Great stay
Bea's apartment was ideal for our short stay on NOLA. Anything we might have needed was available and the apartment itself was clean, comfortable and cool, and , boy, did we need the 'cool' when we were there. The location was great for us. Over the road is the levee, which was ideal for a morning walk, and at the other end of the road, a couple of minutes walk away, is the ferry terminal to take you over the Mississippi to the French Quarter. It was $2 each way, (or $1 for those of us no longer in the first flush of youth) taking away the need to drive into the city, and the problems/costs of parking. We were fortunate enough to meet Bea a few times and she was very helpful with local information. We'd be happy to stay here again.

Clean, bright, quiet, and handy
This condo is just as pictured -- light, spacious, and very clean. Plenty of lights in the bathroom, which is unusual. The owner, Bea, is very busy juggling her rentals, a retail business, designing and creating jewelry, and raising a 6-year-old, but she's still responsive and VERY helpful! Safe, very quiet location 3-4 blocks from the ferry landing.

It was everything promised. Enjoyed the area and accommodations were clean, bright and inviting.
Algiers Point offers the best of two experiences. Stay local for a relaxed, laid back environment or take the ferry over to the French Quarter for that high energy vibe. Both places offer incredible food and music. Excellent and reasonably priced public transportation makes getting around the area effortless. The condo was perfectly located making it easy to ride the ferry or take a leisurely walk along the levee to watch the river traffic. Stop by Bea’s shop to see local artwork, unique jewelry and quirky items. Kudos to Bea and her husband for creating a wonderful getaway place. We would definitely come back again to this delightful spot.

The condo offers a quiet, comfortable place to stay with a quick 5 minute walk to the ferry.
We enjoyed the peace that Algiers Point offers with the convenience of a tranquil ferry ride that takes minutes. Then you pull up to the action of the French Quarter, casino, and Aquarium. My husband and I enjoyed going over during the day and touring the city. We would then return to the condo rest in the peace and quiet before heading back for the evenings excitement. It was a safe, quiet, clean environment that we would return to. The owners were there but always gave us our space acknowledging they were available if needed. Recommend the culinary food tour, dinner cruise with Creole Queen, and Tavolino's Italian restaurant around the corner best food we have ever had.

Wonderful place to stay. Clean and beautiful.
Definitely recommend staying here. It is clean and well kept. It had street parking available so we took the ferry over to downtown. We also enjoyed eating at several restaurants on Algier's Point that were within walking distance. Loved NOLA.

Great base for touring New Orleans
We really enjoyed this place. We were visiting to see the sights (not to party) so this worked well for us. The ferry is very efficient (unlike the rest of NO transit) as long as you don't want to stay later than its last trip at night. The apartment is new, spacious, close to the ferry and adjacent to the levee walking path. The owners are close at hand if you were to need them. The area seems perfectly safe. Highly recommended.

Spacious New Condo! Fabulous Location!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this condo while visiting during Mardi Gras. The location was absolutely perfect for getting back and forth to the main district and French Quarter, as the ferry was mere steps away. We could escape back here at night and didn't have to be in the middle of all the festivities 24/7. The condo was spacious and perfect for the two of us. The bed and linens were comfy and luxurious and everything was fresh and new and really nicely appointed. Bea's shop on the first floor was quaint and offered lots of great items - I spent way too much money in there but couldn't help myself. There were a number of little annoyances that prevented me from giving the condo 5 stars, however. Upon arrival: had to wait in the rain to hear back from the owners to let us in (having the key in the lockbox or letting us know not to use the main phone number provided would have been nice); the TV wasn't working, until we figured out it wasn't plugged in, then the remote wouldn't work, until we found the batteries it was missing and put them in. In the kitchen: had to ask for a fry pan to cook dinner; then had to ask for a can opener; there were no dish towels, scrubbies or wash rags to clean with; couldn't get the coffee pot going the first morning and tried everything, only to discover the outlets needed to be reset (who wants to mess with someone's electrical???) In the bathroom: only shampoo, no conditioner, even though it said toiletries were provided; the full-length mirror was really dirty; and there was painters tape around the drain for the future washer, which didn't look really nice. Bea and her husband were very responsive any time we needed help, but I didn't like feeling I was bothering them. So no major issues at all. Perhaps it's just because the place is so new and they haven't finished up all the little details, or maybe I'm a little pickier because I am an Owner with VRBO myself. But my husband is already talking about coming back, and this will be our #1 choice for a place to stay.

About the host

Hosted by Bea

Host profile image
Husband and wife team, work hard play hard Louisiana natives. One kid and one dog. We love being tourists in our own city, taking on projects, art, design, music and all things New Orleans.

Why they chose this property

We chose to live in Algiers Point, because it offers the best of both worlds. On this side of the river, things have a slower pace. It is amazingly quiet and peaceful as well as safe. When you are ready for a night out, simply jump on the ferry and travel to the French Quarter or Central Business District in about 10 minutes.

What makes this property unique

After living in Algiers Point for about 10 years, we purchased this piece of land and eventually built a multi-family home that contains an owner's unit, two rentals and a gift shop. We love being close to the Mississippi River. Most evenings we will watch the sunset behind the spectacular view of the French Quarter.
