This was the family’s 2nd visit. They have now sampled to extremely different types of mountain weather. Again it was a pleasure hosting them, and their well behaved dog. After this visit I feel like they are part of the family - Great Folks
George's Cabin was such a lovely place. It clearly was the nicest place to be for Thanksgiving, with hiking trails right outside the door. The wood stove kept us nice and cozy. The views from the windows of the mountains of Jackson were stunning

Tim and family were a pleasure to host. They were filled with enthusiasm and true love of the outdoors. They definitely were a perfect fit for my cabin on the mountain.
This was the perfect get away spot! Tons of privacy but close to everything. George was absolutely wonderful to deal with! We would go back again in a heartbeat!

Deb and guests were a pleasure to host. Great enthusiasm & spirit easy to communicate with. They left everything in tip top shape.
We had the bad luck to book our stay during an ice storm (freezing rain followed by a deep freeze), but the good luck to book it here. The host couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, and was full of great insider tips on places to go and things to see (once the roads were safe). Communication was phenomenal start to finish. While we spent less time skiing than we hoped, our kids (4 and 8) were in heaven. They absolutely loved the house and property and want to come back again and again. We're all looking forward to the next time.

David & Family were terrific guests, and a pleasure to host. The weather at times due to a severe ice storm almost shut the trip down. It was their young children who motivated the folks to give it a try, real troopers. Luckily the weather finally turned and things worked out for them. David and family were easy to work with under duress, great folks.
This cabin in the woods is magical. The walls sing with stones of the past! We loved the location and all the adventures George recommended. The Mountain View, outdoor shower and authenticity of this place Will charm you.

Sharon, her husband, and their handsome Burmese Mtn Dog were a perfect match for Thistle Rock. They are lovers of the Mountains, and nature which they were surrounded by. Great with communication and house rules exceptional guests.
Great quiet property off the beaten path. Was just what we were looking for. The outdoor shower was a pleasant surprise. We missed the note for 25/linens and 25/garbage, but we were able to remedy easily. Would stay here again.
A mountain paradise! A touch rustic but a perfect family friendly option for myself and three teenage boys. Dog friendly - a huge bonus! Just a short drive from Jackson, the river, and Pinkham Notch AMC Visitor Center. We will definitely be back.
It was everything we love about Jackson NH!! We loved our stay!!

My husband, dog and I had 2 magical nights and days at this beautiful cabin. We enjoyed walking the surrounding trails, sitting by the warm wood stove and preparing meals in the kitchen.
Matt & Family were terrific guests. I cannot express in a few words how excellent they were. But they are welcome anytime at Thistle Rock and I hope they return. 5 Stars
The property was beautiful, secluded and very quiet.
George was great in all aspects of the stay.

I truly cannot say enough about Chris. It was his first time at my cabin with his very well behaved dogs. He is definitely 1 of my top all time guests. It was not necessary but he left the cabin spotless & totally respected my property. I hope he returns with his family next time.
Amazing place. Beautiful, peaceful, great get a way. Close to several trails.
We loved it!!!

About the host

I live on the coast of Massachusetts but spend as much time as possible in Jackson. In the future I hope to retire to the mountains.I love the outdoors and all this area has to offer. I first came to Jackson as a boy to visit my uncle who owned the original home that was here. I would dream all winter of trout, hiking, exploring, and wild raspberries. I was fortunate enough to purchase the property years later. The original house burned down but out of the ashes came a new beginning. You can stay at cabin and immerse yourselves in the forest and not see a soul or head out to the village and beyond to civilization.
Why they chose this property
If you like the sweet smell of balsams (Christmas Trees), the mountains/ outdoors, and privacy this is it. When I arrive in Jackson I have no need to leave town its all here. Sitting in the brook on a July afternoon is heaven. There is also an outdoor shower to die for and no need for a curtain. A good book in the afternoon with all the windows open, and a mountain breeze -u need nothing else.I designed this cabin to meet all of the needs that make this place special.
What makes this property unique
The mountains are the home also to many different species of wildlife. I believe I have seen most pass through my property-moose,deer,bobcat,coyote,bear,porcupine just to name a few. The variety of birds are too numerous to count. They fill the forest with beautiful music from dawn to dusk. Speaking of nightfall you can reach out and touch the stars. The rivers are stocked but native trout exist also. I am not a golfer but the 2 courses are challenging and open to the public.
