About this property

This lovely apartment is situated in a wide-built 19th C maison de maitre (lawyer's house) shaded by towering plane trees within the heart of this sunny southern town with its narrow lanes and pretty squares. Great care has been given to make sure that it is well furnished and equipped, comfortable and attractive.

Although so central, the house is situated in a quiet area only a few moments away from good bakeries, small shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Saturday mornings sees the bustle of the colourful local market in the streets around. Stunning country walks just a couple of minutes away.

Splendid classic French apartment

This is a quite splendid classic French apartment, very much matching the feel and vibe of the town (Ceret) in which it is situated. It is very spacious and well equipped with a balcony off the bedrooms to the rear and French windows opening onto the tree lined avenue - at its very best when the market stalls fill the street below and the wonderful smell of various foods waft upwards. Then to step out of the front door to a huge bowl of pan-fried mushrooms and garlic - fantastic. No problem at this time of the year to access free parking in the nearby square or in nearby car parking areas. Very helpful and responsive communication with the host, supported by their local contact. Ceret is well served with bars, restaurants and its artistic ambience (including the modern art museum). Great trip. Thanks Wendy!

Appartement de charme agréable

Appartement de charme, confortable dans un immeuble de caractère dans le centre historique de Céret. L'annonce manque de précisions concernant le parking. Cet appartement n'en possède pas contrairement à ce qui est annoncé, il faut se garer sur les parkings publics à proximité ce qui peut-être très gênant le samedi car c'est le jour du marché. A notre arrivée la vaisselle n'était pas très propre, le réfrigérateur ancien peine à faire du froid et la hotte ne remplit plus sa fonction. La literie est de bonne qualité et propre. Malgré les fortes chaleurs pendant notre séjour et l'absence de climatisation l'appartement grâce à son exposition et à la présence des magnifiques platanes conserve une certaine fraîcheur. Wendy Wilmot est attentive au bien-être des locataires et répond rapidement aux différentes questions. Malgré les quelques points négatifs énoncés plus haut cet appartement grâce à son confort et à son authenticité nous a permis de passer un agréable séjour dans cette très belle région.

Very authentic French place

Right from the moment I first booked I had a good feeling about the place. Communication was always promt, with the owner as well as the person managing the property. The flat was spacious, generously equipped (washing machine, dishwasher, toaster etc) pleasantly cool and very French- at least to us. The view from the living room is beautiful, with those huge plane trees, and on the back balcony you're surrounded by roof terraces and those lovely red tile roofs typical of the south. A very nice stay!

I and my family all live in London and love to take time when we can to come to Céret. It is a place my grandchildren have grown to love. However, we all love London too. London and Céret, a perfect foil for one another.

Why they chose this property

Having been a Francophile all my adult life, I knew I had found somewhere special when I first arrived in Céret and I felt positively honoured to be able to purchase this beautiful, very French apartment. A dream come true!

What makes this property unique

The house, being a Maison de Maitre, was, I understand, a lawyer's house. The bureau would have been on the ground floor with elegant living space being on the first floor. Hence the high ceilings, mouldings, double doors and French windows with Juliet balconies to every room (although at the back they have been replaced with a wider balcony right across the back, overlooking gardens).
