## Neighborhood

The Southwark neighbourhood is home to many of the city’s iconic landmarks—London’s most famous bridges, buildings, and museums. Cross the Thames via the Tower, Millennium, or London bridges and be rewarded with panoramic views, of history abutting modernity—Southwark boasts Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the Tate Modern museum, London’s famous Borough market, and many pubs and restaurants.
Borough Market truly is a food lover’s heaven. As well as fruit and veg, meat, fish and cheese, there are many stalls offering artisanal foodstuffs from all over the world. Nearby cafes and restaurants include the Breakfast club (delicious, diner-style treats), or the more upscale Hutong: a modern Chinese restaurant with silk curtains and city views, serving dim sum and dishes from the north of China. Whilst you’re there, take a trip up the famous Shard building for more stunning views of the city. There is also Bavarian food, beers, and a live oompah band at Katzenjammers, and a more traditional English pub vibe at the George Inn, which boasts 17th century oak beams and lovely courtyard.

## Transit

Borough underground station is just a minute's walk away from the flat. This connects you to the Northern line, meaning you can get to iconic London sites in no time at all! King's Cross in just 12 minutes, Waterloo in 10, and London Bridge in only 5 minutes! Exploring the city could hardly be easier.

## Notes

- Please note the flat is on the ground floor and there is no elevator in the property.

Don’t stay here!
Property had not been cleaned at all after being told we couldn’t arrive until late as the cleaners were not able to start until 3pm. The ceiling, walls and bath surrounds were in disrepair and long term wear and tear. The apartment needs a lot of work and should not be listed until it reaches even a basic standard. Thankfully we were able to get our money back.

Don't recommend it
The keynest you need to get the keys from is 15 minutes away on foot, to start with. And you have to return the keys to the same place at the end. Not practical with luggage. I asked why I could not leave the keys at home when leaving. Some smart guy on the phone told me that we were two people. One should wait outside with the luggage and the other could walk to leave the keys, or get an uber. No costumer respect. I was alone when returning. All they need to grow is emphaty. Place was kind of cleaned. Sheets towels were clean. But dustbins were full of trash from previous guests. Place is VERY hot and humid. Bathroom pipes are rusty. The wooden part outside the bath tube is in very bad condition. No A/C. There are couple of fans. Wardrobes are very old. Handles are broken. Wardrobe's smell is disturbing. So we didnot get anything out of it, like pillow or blanket. We could not get TV work. There are two remotes. Small one doesn't work. Kitchen utensils are so old. No washing machine and I doubt if they were recently washed. You could feel the oil OR the detergent on them. Frying pan was like pre-historic. Everything was like long long years old. Garden on the other side of the house is nice. But you get all the traffic noise. Italian restaurant, Flavours of Naples accross the street is the only good memory I have from this place.

This is not a review -not for publication-specific to our stay
I am writing with frustration with issues of continuing our stays-we have had to extend our stay a number of times due to the lockdowns and limitations of Covid and the continuing need for medical care here in London. Because we had no way to know that we would have to extend and re-extend our time due to these problems, we have tried to go through VRBO numerous times. Today we have found out we did it incorrectly somehow, and are possibly being charged for a cleaning we didn't need nor requested, and didn't suspect we would have initiated when we are merely continuing an existing reservation. Communication between Houst Host and VRBO needs to be reviewed so customers feel serviced appropriately. In our earlier extensions, the cleaning fee was removed, and somehow, today it was not communicated that we were staying. Thank you for fixing this, as we may need to extend even one more time, and would appreciate not having another cleaning charge.

A good location for central London
This property is an excellent location for walking to the Burough Market, the Shard, and London Bridge. The flat is a convenient size for 1 or 2 people. With the little park behind it, it's got a feel like you aren't immersed in the city even though you are.

A good location for central London
This flat is convenient for the Underground and the Thames. For us to survive quarantine, it was very nice to look out our back to see the small park. It's warm and the neighbors are fairly quiet. The washer is very good and most items can air-dry easily because it spins well. We were initially frustrated with the response time from the owner, but finally, we were given permission to purchase items the kitchen needed. Future renters should find enough items to make basic meals with the help of deliveries. Having the Gladstone Pub, Burrough Market, and the Co-op deliver was helpful. We think you will like it.
