Thank you 😊. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Hope to see you again sometime soon
We had a lovely 3 night mini break at Lavender cottage. An absolutely gorgeous little place and Rebecca the owner goes that extra mile to ensure you have all you need including welcome hamper and plenty on line advice should you need it! We had friends join us for a night who book high end holiday lets and they were very impressed so thats recommendation enough! There is on site parking but you would need a very small car however unrestricted street parking is plentiful. Southwell a beautiful unspoilt town with plenty to keep you occupied. If you want to venture further afield there is an excellent bus service you can literally ditch the car! All in all a wonderful stay!

Centrally located cottage in Southwell, a short distance from the beautiful Minster. Well equipped clean kitchen with welcome basket containing all the essentials. Living room with log burner and 2 bedrooms containing comfortable beds with crisp clean linen. We had a well deserved rest after a hectic time at work and will return again to enjoy the town at Christmas.

So glad you and your family had such a good time. We’d love to have you all back around Christmastime. Southwell is a really special place to visit with late night shopping and Christmas markets. Enjoy the rest of half term. See you again soon. Rebecca and Stuart
We stayed in the Lavender Cottage for two nights on a weekend away. The cottage is situated at a short distance from the Southwell Minster and village shops. Southwell itself is quite a compact and cute little village. The cottage is really well presented, clean and well equipped. The host, Rebecca, left us a hamper with bread, juice, milk etc. Everything was very clean and tidy. We had two cozy nights in there and the log fire was a great addition to the lovely relaxing feel the cottage has. Rebecca was helpful throughout our stay and beforehand with tips of pubs and walks we could do. We had lunch at a deli in the village called “The Old Theatre Deli”, which was absolutely outstanding foodwise.
Just wonderful!
The cottage itself is simply perfect. Nice kitchen, lounge, two bedrooms and a lovely bathroom. Kitchen is stocked with everything you might need in terms of pots and pans. The owner leaves you with fresh bread, marmalade, milk, tea, coffee.... As well as assorted cereals. Everything is very clean and welcoming. Little details make s huge impact, and I especially loved the fresh flowers in the kitchen table and welcome note.
The location is perfect and quiet. Right in front of a large grassy park and 5 mins walk to the minster and and small/beautiful town of Southwell.
The owner is incredibly responsive. Nothing is too much and is available to help with any questions you might have with suggestions if dining it places to visit.
I very much enjoyed my visit and will be staying there again. Doo not hesitate... This is the place for you!

Rebecca was an absolute delight from the start, the cottage was spotlessly clean with loads of little personal touches around the place. A beautiful welcome package (including personalised Christmas gifts for the kids) greeted us, warm cosy cottage with a Christmas tree was all set up, the fire was ready to go. The cottage has everything you need, the beds are so comfy and the shower is lovely and powerful. It's in a brilliant location, walking distance to the cute little town and a lovely park for the kids to run around in. Would definitely recommend, we had such a lovely holiday. Thank you for everything!

We had a wonderful break in this well equipped property. The cottage is in a quiet courtyard within walking distance to the shops which made it quiet but also conveniently placed. Rebecca is an excellent host, communicating with us to make sure we were comfortable throughout the trip. She also added personal touches,, such as a food hamper in the kitcen and individually wrapped soaps in the bedrooms. The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything we might need. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would love to return at some point.

I’ve lived in Southwell over 25 years and would be happy to answer any questions you may have from eating out locally to where Robin Hood used to hang out! It’s a pleasure welcoming guests from all over the world to stay in Southwell. I hope you enjoy your time here with us. I’ve loved travelling and meeting people from around the world working for an airline for ten years - between us we can communicate in over six different languages including sign language. Your happiness is our priority whilst you’re a guest at Lavender Cottage so please let us know if there’s anything you need
Why they chose this property
Southwell is a unique market town described as the jewel of Nottinghamshire’s crown. King Charles I spent his last night of freedom here and the area is steeped in history. The magnificent Cathedral dates back to the 12th Century and the National Trusts Workhouse is the most complete building of its kind in the UK. With spectacular countryside walks, a thriving high street of independent shops Southwell has its own Race Course, Robin Hood’s Hideout 🌳 and even its own Apple named after it! There are many excellent National Trust houses locally including The Workhouse in Southwell; a fascinating story of the lives of the most vulnerable in the past and contemplates if we’ve addressed those problems enough… Nottingham and Newark are a short drive away and give further options for dining, theatre, ice skating, horse riding, climbing, dancing, cinema and pubs and clubs. You won’t be short of things to do if you’re a nature lover and want to discover the forests and woodlands locally. You can even zip wire through the trees at Sherwood Pines after you’ve seen The Major Oak and caught up with Robin Hood. Just let us know what you like to do and we’ll happily recommend some days out or places to visit
