About this property
The Shearer's Hut, a cosy shepherds hut
Get away from it all in comfort.
Contactless check-in, and Welsh government
Our gorgeous off grid shepherds hut with its comfy double bed, ensuite shower and toilet, sits in a corner of a field in over 100 areas of farm and woodland. Snuggle up by the wood burner, sit around the fire pit and check out the stars or enjoy cooking your meals outdoor on the gas BBQ. All just 10 minutes from the charming Welsh town of Llandeilo.
The Shepherds Hut has a comfy double bed, all made up ready for you, ensuite shower and flush toilet, hot and cold running water, led lights and phone charger. Heating is from the wood burner, which will be laid ready for you. Cutlery, crockery, pots, cooking utensils and the cool box are in the granite topped kitchenette cupboards, the Belfast sink has a hot and cold running water, the chairs are in the storage cupboard under the bed.
Outside is a covered gas camp cooker for cooking, fire pit and there is seating inside and out. Linen, crockery, etc provided. Everything you need for a perfect stay.
During your stay you are welcome to explore the fields and woodland, with the river Dulas as a part of our boundary. In the spring there are blue bells in the woods, spring flowers in the hedgerows and lambs in the fields. Summer brings the swallows and small fish in the river. Autumn sets alight the countryside views as the leaves change colour. The cold fresh air of winter makes snuggling up by the wood burner more enticing.
We share the farm with our sheep, dogs, cats, a pony called Max and sometimes some cattle. Wildlife is abundant, there is a diverse birdlife, including kites, buzzards, and owls, foxes and badgers have been seen on the farm, and wild deer on the roads nearby.
From the shepherds hut, you can see Pen Y Fan to the east and in the south west the dome at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. The first International Dark-Sky reserve in Wales is situated in the Brecon Beacons, but on a clear night the sky here is just as spectacular.
The Shearers Retreat, is a great place to stop and relax, with the woodland and river and stream, but if you fancy seeing a bit more, there is plenty to see and do.
The local is just 2 miles away, which is well known for its good food. Another 2 miles along takes you to Llandeilo, full of independent shops and stylish boutiques, a great selection of places to eat, award winning local food suppliers, delis, farmers markets, on Fridays mornings, and supermarket.
Near by are Castles, 3 within a 15 minute drive, Aberglasney Gardens, National Botanic gardens of Wales – the dome can be seen from the farm, National Trust Properties, and country parks. Most of which host events – musical nights, antiques fairs, family days and many more things.
45 minutes gets you to Dylan Thomas Boat House at Laugharne.
In under an hour you can be at the beautiful beaches of the Gower and Pembroke, and all the attractions there.
Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, is just over an hour away.
