About this property

Entire Victorian schoolhouse with hot tub and harbour views

Summary:

Welcome to our converted Victorian Schoolhouse on the sloping hills of the harbour town of Fowey. Naturally, the property boasts stunning views of the sea and the town. There’s more than enough space for all but the largest groups, including 2 separate living rooms.

A perfect base for your Cornwall adventure, the town centre and local attractions are a 5-minute walk away. Soak in our outdoor jacuzzi surrounded by beautiful scenery and fresh air.

**No events or parties are allowed on site.

The Space:

A recently renovated Victorian schoolhouse, this property is truly one of a kind!! It’s spacious, bright, and just about every space is filled with views you could hang in a gallery. The house itself blends period architecture with modern industrial design.

The schoolhouse has 4 bedrooms, 8 beds, 3 bathrooms with shower facilities, 2 living rooms, a massive cast-iron roll top bath, and 1 ping pong table (and a partridge in a pear tree).

Whether it's rest and quiet or socialising and entertainment, this property has space for every occasion and need. Speaking of entertainment, bored and idle minds, you can enjoy Apple TV, Netflix, and a selection of board games.

The hot tub (open until 10 pm) is perfect for relaxing outdoors and refreshing sore bodies.

Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the main house, an old school hall, plus access to the back garden and hot tub.

There is also a mezzanine level inside with a hammock for napping and relaxing.

The back garden (decking with the hot tub) is strictly for main house bookings only. Annexe and flat bookings only have access to the front garden.

The Neighborhood:

It's a 5-minute walk down the hill into Fowey. You'll find a selection of independent shops, fresh local produce and plenty of restaurants and cafes.

You can hire a boat for £20 and travel up and down the famous Fowey waters.

The Eden Project is a short 15-minute drive away.

The property is in an extremely quiet neighbourhood—you can hear only the sound of waves crashing at night! Please be aware of this when entering and exiting the property. Noise after 10 pm is strictly forbidden.

Getting Around:

Parking is available 10 steps away from the property off the road Hanson Drive.

Please put in 'Hanson Drive' to your sat nav and follow the signpost for the 'Old School Studio' - you may park here.

Walk through the gate across the footpath and enter the wooden gate labelled 'Old School Studio'. The flat is straight up the garden path and round to the right. Please find check-in instructions on the listing :)

Please note not to park in our neighbors' parking spaces, which are located at the far end of the car park.

The best way to get around Fowey is on foot. There are plenty of walking routes around Fowey with so much to see.

Other Things to Note:

The hot tub closes promptly at 10 pm each night. We kindly ask all guests to respect our noise policy and be mindful of neighbours’ privacy and quiet enjoyment.

We may require a deposit for single-night bookings, last-minute reservations, and large booking groups. This can be retained for noise complaints, unauthorized parties, excessive uncleanliness, or damage beyond normal use.

Sleeping arrangements are as follows:

First bedroom (downstairs): 1 king bed (sleeps 2), 1 fold-out bed (sleeps 1)

Second bedroom (upstairs): 1 king bed (sleeps 2), 1 fold-out bed (sleeps 1)

Third bedroom (downstairs): 1 king bed (sleeps 2), 1 fold-out bed (sleeps 1)

Kids’ room: a large two-floor room with beds for 6 (4 single beds + 1 double bed)

Our maximum occupancy is 16 guests. We also have two additional properties on-site—check out my other listings if you need accommodation for larger groups!

Birthday Celebrations

We enjoyed an amazing weekend at The Old School House, celebrating my mum’s 80th birthday. The property is perfect for a large group, with large communal spaces where everyone can come together, but also some cosy nooks where you can enjoy a moment of quiet. The fact that it’s located above the beautiful Fowey estuary, with fantastic views and the town and beach a short stroll away is just a bonus!

Incredible building

It’s a fantastic space. Well utilised. The furniture is beautiful. The heating worked extremely well and the place was toasty warm. Lots of activities such as ping pong, giant Jenga plus a selection of board games. The hot tub had incredible views. I would definitely go back.
