About this property

Double rooms at the Old Crown Hotel

A comfortable double bedroom, with a sink in the room & a communal shared bathroom.
The Old Crown is a striking building, rich in history and character and is one of a few remaining examples of Birmingham's medieval past. The building is a Grade II listed building and was built circa 1368. It is believed that every room has a tale to tell and it is said that the Old Crown is haunted by not one but two ghosts! Ask our staff for some of the building's spooky tales.

The Old Crown is located only half a mile from the city centre, making it perfect for anyone travelling for work, wanting to visit the Bullring (our proud shopping complex), see our sights or just for a break. There are good transport links with buses and trains running in the local area.

Although we do not have on-site parking, there are a number of local car parks (2 located on the High Street, visible from the hotel), feel free to enquire with us for more details or directions. We are located in the heart of Digbeth, which is a lively area filled with culture and a hospitable community.

The Old Crown is well known for it's events, such as Oktoberfest, 12 Weeks of Summer, takeovers and many more. Due to the fact the building is Grade II listed, some noise does travel around the building from our garden, and the surrounding roads. However, if you are looking for somewhere steeped in history and character, The Old Crown is the perfect place.

We have a kitchen on-site providing freshly made food and pub classics.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay 😀

Meal was excellent - gluten free no problem at all - atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Hotel is full of history, and as such, can present a few problems with access, but if you are hale and hearty and wanting a GREAT night out, this is the place for you.

I had no idea I was staying in Birminghams' oldest pub!... a lovely room.

Humble, relaxed, cosy, timeless and great vibe

We booked this pub as we don't get to see each other very often. It was comfortable relaxed and we felt really at home with the fire going in the pub and a nice warm radiator next to the bed.

What an amazing hotel and staff

Visiting a show at NEC, so decided to book an overnight and avoid traffic and a long journey on the day. We walked into the Bullring and on the first day were able to spend a leisurely day looking round the show on the next.

Lovely b and b good value for money

Stayed one night before an interview. Unfortunately arrived late because of traffic problems so didn't have a chance to enjoy the hotel for long. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and sorted out a problem with the tv straight away. Beautiful charming room, with beams and four poster bed.

Can't wait to return

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday as we were going to a gig at the O2 Institute. Staff very friendly as soon as we arrived. Room lovely with an unexpected four poster. The only negative was the shared bathroom (although very clean), just a pain when you need the toilet several times in the middle of the night. Husband said the breakfast was lovely, and the food in the pub looked very appetising.

A hotel with beautiful period features, comfortable accommodation and very friendly Staff.

We arrived at about 4pm and were shown to our rooms by a very friendly and helpful staff member. We came for a relative's surprise 70th Birthday Party. We had a lovely time. The food package provided was very nice. A very enjoyable night was had by all. The staff were nearby if we needed them but were unobtrusive giving us privacy for our family party. The car park was free, although check out was 11am, they allowed us to leave our car in the car park whilst we looked around the shops.
