We were disappointed, the house hadn't been cleaned recently.
There was a dead fly and a dead wood louse in a bathroom but the dead mouse in a trap was absolutely unacceptable.
There were no hand towels in the bathrooms.
One of the beds was held up by blocks of wood.
The wood burning stove was full of ash.
It has a wood fired hot tub but no firelighters and hardly any small sticks to light it, it was a nightmare.
The hot tub had no way to regulate the temperature when it finally warmed up nearly 3 hours later, it got unbearably hot.
Slippy green scum on the ground around the hot tub.
The host was very unresponsive. I emailed her twice after booking, no response.
She messaged via VRBO site the day before we arrived asking for a security deposit. She didnt send details how to do this until I asked.
She sent the incorrect code for the key box and we couldn't get in. Thankfully we found a bunch of keys lying on the ground by the hot tub and thats how we accessed the house. Later a message came through with the correct code for the key box...
The oven/grill was so dirty the kitchen filled with smoke when turned on.
We had to wash any glasses/tableware before use as they were grubby.
Disappointing to have so much wrong, mainly basic things that should of been picked up/rectified if the house was cleaned before our arrival.
I messaged the host when I got home about the many issues, 2 days later no response.
Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

We have always enjoyed property development and restoring old property to improve functionality whilst retaining character and charm.
We have restored and renovated a number of properties over the years. Ballyginny Cottage was initially completed in 2010/11, however it has been extensively refurbished in 2019 again. Whilst our children have been involved in these renovations when they were younger they preferred to build forts and dams in the rivers and climb trees than to pursue skills in property development. Although one of our sons has pursued tree surgery and tree climbing as a career. So the skills he has learned during his "me time" at the cottage has served as useful to his career.
We enjoy hearing of guests who have achieved quality family time with their loved ones at the cottage and in the area, because whilst it is in a place with the caption "a place which time forgot", we hope that you get the chance to build memories with your family which YOU will now forge
