Tigh na Mara is a beautiful, contemporary one bedroom retreat constructed in 2019 and offers exceptional accommodation for couples or solo travellers.

The house is a modern interpretation of a Sheiling or small dwelling once used by shepherds in Scotland whilst tending their cattle during the summer months. Tigh na Mara literally means "House by the Sea" in Gaelic and refers to the property's unique location overlooking Ardmair Bay towards Isle Martin and the Summer Isles.

With floor to ceiling glass windows throughout and a beautiful Danish wood burning stove, this cosy larch-clad home makes the most of its breathtaking position by the sea and the dramatic backdrop of Ben Mor Coigach, a table-top mountain. The house is nestled into the hillside on its own private site with a burn flowing nearby and overlooks a small coved bay. Guests will enjoy seeing an abundance of wildlife from the comfort of Tigh na Mara including a variety of seabirds, seals, otters, pine martens and deer.

Tigh na Mara has been thoughtfully and tastefully designed to offer guests an unforgettable stay in the North West Highlands. Comprising a comfortable bedroom with king size bed, a luxurious wetroom-style bathroom and a spacious, open-plan living and kitchen studio fitted with modern appliances and equipped to a very high standard.

This truly is a unique home for those looking for something special in this stunning and inspiring part of Scotland.

Really comfortable with breathtaking views, everything you would want for a holiday in the Highlands

The cottage was fantastic with everything you could want. Great location for exploring further a field, but with those unforgettable views you may want to just sit in the cottage and stare out of the huge windows!

What an absolute gem of a place

This is without doubt the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. The views over the bay are a treat no matter what the weather is doing. The property is well equipped and very clean. We ate in most nights because it was a pleasure to cook and then enjoy that amazing view as we ate. We'd love to come back.

Every bit as good as it looks!

The property is fantastic – simple, stylish, functional – everything just works, and is a joy to use. The location is stunning. We enjoyed the cycling, the walking, the views, the food. No matter that it wasn’t wall-to-wall sunshine (you can go to Spain for that), Ardmair offers constantly changing, yet permanently beautiful and fascinating vistas.

Absolutely Perfect

We lost count of how many times we used the words stunning, beautiful, amazing, fantastic, wonderful, perfect during our stay. It was amazing sitting watching seals and otters in the bay and watching stunning sunsets. The location is superb and attention to detail of the interior is second to none. We will definitely be back as soon as we can.

Unforgettable Stay

A stunning place! Julian has thought of everything and made Tigh Na Mara welcoming and relaxing. The views are second to none and we enjoyed soaking up the sun with the doors open. Our dog especially enjoyed the whole outdoors indoors aspect, lying on the rug and enjoying being outdoors. A bonus was that we saw a seal swimming about directly in front the holiday let. Icing on the cake! Ullapool was also one of the best seaside towns we have been to. Lots of interesting shops and eateries.

A magical place to watch the ever changing Scottish landscape.

A gem of a house, modern, spacious, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. Everything you need is there, and in such good condition you feel like no one else has stayed there before. We spent ages sitting by the fire just staring at the sea. A beautiful view to also enjoy from your bed. A pine marten visited each night. What a treat! Thank you Julian for the welcome gifts and for sharing your beautiful home with us.

It was wonderful it was our second visit and it just gets better even with terrible weather.

Everything, the views, the wildlife, the accommodation was superb. The weather was terrible but it was great watching the storms moving through over the Loch and the mountains. The property is amazing and the quality of everything in the property was as good as when we visited two years ago. There is even a fall waterfall outside the property.

Idyllic doesn't do it justice, front row seats above an ever-changing ring of bright water.

We felt like the temporary custodians of the pergola in an exquisite zen garden. A piece of perfection has been created here.

Best place we have ever stayed!

Wow! What an amazing place! The best lodge we have ever stayed in with the best view we have ever had. It literally takes your breath away. The lodge is immaculate and well equipped with everything you need and more. And a view from every window.! So very peaceful and private. Loved all the thoughtful touches, like the wine and chocolate and the pre-paid postcards. The scenery is beautiful in every direction you drive; the Shearwater boat trip was fantastic. Can't wait for our next visit.

Fabulous

The cottage is really luxurious and comfortable. The view is to die for no matter what the weather. We really enjoyed having a cuppa in bed just watching the sea. Are only complaint would be the brook outside got a little noisy at times :-)
