About this property

Carncairn West Wing, lovely private appartment

this lovely spacious 4 star private wing is attached to a georgian family home set in its own mature gardens and grounds just half a mile from broughshane. it is ideal for a rural getaway. we regret no children or pets . carncairn west wing is ideal for a single person or couple, has a kitchen/dining area downstairs and a living room, double bedroom and bathroom upstairs with smart tv's upstairs and down and fast wifi. it is a spacious, completely self contained private wing of the main georgian house, 53sqm in size and has exclusive use of the side lawn, guests are very welcome to wander around the gardens. there is plenty of parking in the courtyard outside the house. surrounded by stunning gardens and landscape it is ideal for a rural getaway. there is lots to do in the local area whether it is climbing the local mountain slemish, where st patrick tended sheep or fishing on the river, walking or cycling. broughshane is a pretty little town only half a mile away with plenty of coffee shops and plenty of other shops to meet your requirements. further afield are the glens, the famous coast road and glenarm castle only 20 mins away. belfast to the south for the titanic museum or portrush to the north for golf or the gians causeway are both only 40 minutes away.
we have two separate rentals, the west wing sleeps 2 and is a completely self contained private wing of carncairn (I regret we do not allow pets or children in the wing.) The grange sleeps 7 and is a bungalow about 200m from carncairn lodge, an old georgian house dating from around 1800 which is secluded and private, set in the braid valley not far from the river and surrounded by beautiful mature woodlands with extensive gardens..
1. carncairn west wing sleeps a single person or couple, has a kitchen/dining area downstairs and a living room, double bedroom and bathroom upstairs with smart tv's upstairs and down and good wifi. it is a spacious, 53sqm in size and has exclusive use of the side lawn. we encourage guests to wander around the gardens. parking is free.

2. carncairn grange, which is suitable for 7 guests is a separate house about 200m from the main house, 200sqm in size, so there is lots of space. we welcome pets and children to the grange. It has 4 bedrooms, a twin, two doubles and a single. in addition it has a large kitchen, three hallways, a living room and a conservatoy, there is even an aga in the kitchen which can be lit if you want a gastronomic escape. There is a garage and wood/barbecue store, also lots of space outside with lawns on either side and at the front. It looks out over fields surrounded by mature woodland and over to the hills in the near distance.
both properties are surrounded by gardens and set in a beautiful landscape, ideal for a rural getaway. and great for walking or cycling, climbing the local mountain slemish, where st patrick tended sheep or fishing on the river, broughshane is a pretty little town only half a mile away with coffee shops, grocers and most things you may need. further afield are the glens, the famous coast road for a scenic drive and glenarm castle only 20 mins away. belfast to the south for the titanic museum or portrush to the north for golf or the giants causeway are only 40 minutes away.

A lovely and very comfortable home on an awesome property!
It took a moment to find but if you follow the directions she sends you (which were admittedly looked a little daunting to an american who constantly uses google maps for everything) it is actually quite easy. The property is amazing and the host (whom we ran in to a couple of times puttering around in her gardens) was lovely and encouraged us to explore. The area is centrally located and easy to venture out for the day. The home is cozy and well supplied and an excellent place to come home to every night. The bed, bathroom and lounge were all very comfortable and the in floor heating in the kitchen is SUBLIME - especially when the rainy days have sunk the cold deep in your bones and only hot tea and warm feet will warm you up. Cound not recommend more and would absolutely visit again!!!

West Wing of a Country House.
Very comfortable and well equipped property in a quiet setting. Lovely garden and parking. Broughshane as a village has everything you need. Good pub, fish & chip shop and supermarket. Broughshane is very central when travelling to Belfast & Co Antrim Coast. We were able to meet up with family nearby, to visit old haunts and to go to Lyric Theatre. Wanted to climb Slemish but weather was too windy. Would you happy to return.

Great location for exploring the coastline
From Broughshane it is less than hour drive to the causeway coast with its beautiful and interesting scenery and walks. Only about 30 mins to the east coast north of Larne. Well worth the money. Comfortable with all that you need. Lovely garden to sit in if the weather is kind. Host were helpful

Hi, we are Pam and Richard, we moved into Carncairn ( Richard's parents house) in 1992 when Richard's parents found it too big and decided move out. We only started self catering in 2017 almost by accident after Richard's mother passed away. She had been living in a wing of the house which we had converted for her. After some thought we decided to let it out for self catering as The West Wing and in 2019 added Carncairn Grange, a separate bungalow 200m away. We are well away from the road and all seem to love the rural tranquility, the beautiful gardens and the many things to do in the local area as well as the ease in getting to Belfast and the North Coast which are all less than 45 minutes away. Pam's passion is the garden and we have spent the last 30 years developing the gardens including a large walled garden with a greenhouse as well as bringing up our 3 boys. We enjoy meeting our guests but appreciate that most of them come to stay for weddings, exploring, seeing family or just getting away and pick us for the tranquility and secluded nature of the property so after meeting on arrival we respect your privacy unless you wish or need to contact us.
