Over the last few years, we stayed at the Hatchet and the Elephant at the Market for their central location. But as the kids got bigger and the quality of those places diminished, I looked for something else. This flat is just as central, and while the building exterior and halls were not sparkling, the flat itself was great - everything updated, comfortable firm beds and plenty of space for a family of 4. My only hesitations would be that the carpet has some staining, and the bathroom (as with many in older buildings) has no vent fan, and thus a bit of flaking paint/mildew. Getting in was easy, and there are plenty of car parks nearby. Would love to stay again on our next visit to Newbury.
