About the host
Hosted by Host
Pointe-Noire is located on the west coast of the island of Basse-Terre, known as the Côte-sous-le-vent. It takes its name from the volcanic rocks. It spreads out, north of the crossing road, along a rather rocky coastline wedged between the sea and the wooded mountains.
It is a town that has remained true to itself, with a main street of old Creole houses with small shops.
In the centre of town you can stroll down the main street (rue de la république), see the church and the waterfront.
A little to the south, below, the Caribbean beach, although very stony in places, offers a beautiful panorama and in the background some restaurants.
Further north, below the road on the way to Deshaies, the beach of Petit Anse is one of the nicest, a cove suitable for snorkelling.
There are many things to see in the area such as the house of cocoa, the waterfall of the Acomat jump, the leeward coast, the mountainous and protected natural park of Guadeloupe (rivers, waterfalls)... Pointe-Noire is an essential step of your stay in Guadeloupe, well located you can visit all Guadeloupe and its dependencies (islands).
