The Cottage set in the grounds of Rock Cottage Country House, is a charming rustic, Irish Cottage with all modern conveniences on the inside, whilst preserving its historic character on the outside. It is situated in a tranquil courtyard garden of a Georgian hunting lodge dating back to 18th Century. We are situated on The wild Atlantic Way just a 10 minute drive away from Schull, Goleen and Durrus. Schull has numerous boutiques, pubs and restaurants, art galleries, library and good food shops plus a weekly market on Sundays. Also near by is The Mizen Head and Barley cove and other beautiful beaches. We are well situated for exploring West Cork, including The Mizen Head, The Sheep's Head and The Beara Peninsulas. Outside guests can roam around the 17 acres of grounds, hillside and visit the animals. From the top of the hill there is a bench where guests can sit and enjoy the 360 degree view over the hills and Mount Gabriel. There is also a Chalet available, the perfect glamping holiday/p8830479?uni_id=4895282

Great stay in lovely cottage
We could not have chosen a better place to stay in West Cork!! Rock Cottage is a perfectly equipped and cozy cottage with so many loving details ( wonderful fresh flowers, books, candles....). Jackie and Jonathan are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. Our little daughter has immediately fallen in love with their cute animals.
West Cork offers so much wonderful places to discover, but one of the highlights was spending time in Rock Cottage and it´s great surroundings.
We would totally recommend it and can only say:
Thanks again, Jackie and Jonathan!!

Thank you so much. You are the most delightful family and will always be welcome here.
My husband and I are just back from a lovely holiday at Rock Cottage. The location is excellent, quiet, beautiful surroundings and ideally situated for exploring west Cork. The cottage was spotless, very comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The owners Jackie and Jonathan were extremely welcoming and provided lots of good advice about the surrounding area. We had our two dogs with us. It’s hard to find pet friendly accommodation that is really pet friendly as well as comfortable for the adults. Would definitely love to stay again. Highly recommend Rock Cottage.

A rare find and secret gem
It is rare to come across a place so perfect. Jackie and Jonathan go above and beyond with anything you need, and have created a little piece of heaven in Ireland. The house has everything you need, and is spotlessly clean and tidy. Outside is equally charming from the vegetable garden and fresh eggs from the resident chickens and ducks, to feeding the donkeys, and having friendly and loving dogs and cats roaming the property, and joining for walks. If you are planning a trip to the Atlantic Way/a break in the beautiful west coast, you would be lucky to stay here. There are some many beautiful places to see, places to eat and lots to do - that Jackie and Jonathan will recommend. I have travelled all over the world, and Rock Cottage will be one of the treasured places to always remember and return to.

Great Super Quiet Getaway!
We had a great visit in the area and loved the home! It was a bit cool in the evenings so we had a lovely fire in the small fireplace each evening.
We loved our stay in this beautifully renovated old stone home! Perfect for a couple who would like some peace and a change from hotels or B&B's on thier holiday!!
The kitchen facilities met all our needs and we always had breadfast and dinner back at our "home away from home" after driving to the Beara Pennisula (our favourite), Mizen head and around, Sheeps head for a hike, and to the ring of Kerry (oddly our least favourite)...
You can easily pick up groceries on the way home in Schull or Bantry (which had great shops both).... and we were lucky to get the summer Market on Sunday in Schull for some great local supplies our second day in the home.
The owner, Barbara was always very helpful, explained how everything worked and offered herbs from her garden as needed.
It is dead silent at night as you are on a farm about 10 km from town... a short drive to a pub etc. each direction!!
A wonderful beautiful place, and wonderful hosts!!
I've stayed with Jackie and Jonathon (and dogs Elsa and Saffron) in their wonderful cozy and comfortable "Rock Cottage" before, and my planning for another trip to West Cork was predicated on finding an available period to stay with them once again in the cottage.
I’ve worked and stayed in 69 countries and 50 US states besides Ireland, and I always come back to County Kerry and County Cork for the beauty, tranquility, and wonderful people as exemplified by Jackie and Jonathon.
The property is a completely and lovingly refurbished 1826 Georgian hunting lodge where the former courtyard garden stone outbuildings have been preserved on the outside but very well updated on the inside with a full modern kitchen not a galley kitchen, large modern bathroom with lots of hot water, and cozy and comfortable living spaces. Recycling is well setup and encouraged, and there is even an electrical charging facility for EV cars.
The extensive grounds are flower filled and immaculate with horses, donkeys, chickens and geese (and the occasional neighborhood sheep eating Jackie’s flowers). I loved spoiling the donkey and the horses with fresh carrots in the mornings.
Driving up the long country lane driveway you feel yourself relaxing, and then the blond sisters Elsa and Saffron come running up to greet you and get some love and scratches, and then Jackie comes strolling over with a huge smile and greeting, and cookies, flowers and fresh eggs.
You will not go wrong staying with my friends!!

Thank you so much Michael for your wonderful review. We really enjoyed seeing you and hope to see you again sometime soon.
The property is as beautiful as the pictures. Everything was clean, tidy, and ready for our stay. Jackie & Jonathan are very friendly, helpful, and attentive hosts. With the main house, just across the lawn and car park, they were always available when needed. We had a wonderful stay and would like to return, because it was such a positive experience!
After 3 weeks in Jonathan and Jackie's little corner of paradise, we were sad to leave again. The cottage has a very homely feel to it and has everything we needed for a relaxing vacation: Comfortable beds, tasteful decorations, amazing views into the garden, a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, adorable animals - and on top of it all, very kind and helpful hosts!
We are truly glad that we chose this cottage for our stay, and we will definitely come back around another time!

We enjoyed our stay so much we are already planning a return visit. Jacqueline and Jonathan were very friendly and accommodating. The cottage is lovely, cozy, and well appointed. We had a lovely time. Jackie and Jonathan could not have been more helpful and gracious.
You could not have a more lovely setting and cottage for two people in this wonderful part of Southwest Ireland. It was completely upfitted for catering and we availed ourselves of the lovely local produce, seafood and meats for each morning and evening meal. We found very few desired kitchen items lacking......and I am a cook!! The cottage was clean, well organized and ideal for daily car tours thru the region. We intend to visit again!

Wunderschönes Cottages in herrlicher Umgebung.

About the host
Hosted by Jacqueline Sarsfield
I am a fun loving individual who loves travelling and meeting new people. My particular passion are the animals here at Rock Cottage and the beautiful unspoilt landscape. My interests are walking, photography & cooking. I love to go walking around this part of Ireland and exploring all the beautiful sites. My passion is to go to the local farmers' markets and cook with locally grown produce.
Why they chose this property
I spent much of my childhood here in Ireland having been born in Dublin. I moved full time to Ireland in 2014 from London.
What makes this property unique
Having rented Rock Cottage for over a year, I decided to purchase this beautiful place and continue with this well established holiday accommodation business. The gardens, paddocks and surrounding hillsides are stunning, particularly the 360 degree view from the top of the garden overlooking Dunmanus Bay, The Sheeps Head and on the other side the hills and Mt Gabriel.
