Lovely house, enjoyed our stay.

Very nice, comfortable house with a stylish garden. Westleton is a quiet and peaceful village. Great walks across the heathland to the coast. We hope to return soon.

Lovely house with the bonus of a nice garden

We had a lovely stay, and especially enjoyed sitting out in the garden -extremely comfortable chairs around the table under the overhang! The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, with lots of space. Westleton is a pretty village, and within easy reach of the coast, Dunwich Heath, Southwold and Aldeburgh, so it's a great centre if you want to tour round. One concern was the bath, which we found to be very slippery, which could be potentially dangerous. We've taken off a mark for cleanliness because the cleaners had left behind a half-eaten pie; this was surely an oversight, given the otherwise excellent condition of the house. We'd be very happy to return to Yew Tree Cottage- we would say that out of all the various properties which we've rented over several decades, this was the one where -through choice- we spent the most time.

Family holiday

Beautiful cottage. Well equipped and spotlessly clean on arrival. Well located for exploring that part of Suffolk. The stylish and well planned outdoor space with comfortable garden furniture was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would stay there again.

Yew Tree Cottage, Westleton

We had a lovely holiday at Yew Tree Cottage. The property was a very well equipped modern cottage. We spent lots of time in the enclosed garden and especially loved the outdoor sofa! The location was excellent for visiting Dunwich beach, Dunwich heath and the Minsmere nature reserve. The village of Westleton is charming with two pubs and a village shop. We would love to return to this property.

Lovely accommodation

Our second stay at Yew Tree Cottage and we loved it again. An Ideal peaceful location in good proximity to local beachs/pubs in Dunwich, Warberswick and Southwold. The garden is a really smart addition to the property and lovely for outside dining. Would definitely consider visiting again.

A just wonderful break

An extremely well equipped cottage with everything you could wish for, even digital radios both in the bathroom and kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here, as did our springer spaniel, and the garden proved a lovely place for eating outside.

Contemporary Suffolk Hideaway

Because of the information we received from Suffolk hideaways prior to our arrival we were expecting a place stripped almost bare of ‘normal’ to comply with Covid regulations so we were pleasantly surprised. There was salt and pepper and books and cushions and it all looked very normal! We liked the mix of twentieth century vintage with mass market contemporary home furnishing. Everything from the denby plates and bowls in the kitchen to the Samsung the frame television in the living room had been carefully chosen. It was a nice space to be for a week and the bed was very comfortable. Having stayed in numerous places where cooking anything is a real challenge the kitchen was wonderfully well equipped. We found having the manuals for the induction hob and electric ovens really helpful. More information about the heat pump heating system and the individual room thermostats would have been helpful as we ‘upset’ a room thermostat by accident when we mistook it for a light switch in the dark! Can a cottage with a wood burner be described as eco? As non dog owners we found the dog cage left in the hallway both visually intrusive and an extra something to continually walk round. I would advise anyone who is sensitive to fragrance in laundry products to take their own bed linens and towels to this property. There are also two inaccuracies in the description of the cottage which could be important to some people: “Outside the garden has space for children and a four-legged friend to play along with a fire pit and barbecue for your enjoyment.” While we didn’t especially mind there was no barbecue or fire pit. This absence could be due to the garden’s recent makeover. An outside seating area protected from the elements is a very good idea. It will be interesting to see how the garden looks in a few years when it has had time to settle and grow. The beach is described as 30 minutes walking distance which is impossible at a normal walking speed. The nearest beach at Dunwich, is 2.5 to 3 miles away depending on the route, taking a minimum of 45 - 50 minutes to walk. The cottage is in a very good location for both walks and short drives to other places. The village itself is interesting to walk around. There is a very vocal peacock living in the vicinity but he made a welcome change from aircraft noise! All in all we had a lovely time and Suffolk Hideways were very easy to book with.
