About this property

Victorian House in Winslow Conservation Area Sleeps 5

No 14 is a delightful Victorian house spread over four floors situated in the conservation area of the ancient Market Town of Winslow on Church Street, leading to the church and the town centre.

The house has been completely gutted and refurbished to the highest specification in the summer of 2020.

There are two bedrooms. The upper study can be setup as a further single bedroom, one bathroom, a study/office, sitting room, dining room, laundry room, fully equipped kitchen with a small yard.

The house is in the extraordinarily quiet location. Church Street leads to St Laurence's Church, parts of which date to the 13th century.

No 14 is our home when we are in England and we have had it refurbished to the highest specification and we like to think that nothing has been forgotten!

Occupancy
The maximum occupancy of the property is five guests, at any point during your stay.

However the top study can be set up as a super-king or twins but this very tight and we would not recommend it.

Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by three additional infants.

Pets
Regrettably, pets are not accepted.

Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.

Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 16:00 and departure time is by 11:00. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Bed sizes and configurations
Master bedroom (first floor): Four poster King size bed, Hypnos mattress.

Bedroom 2 (second floor): Super King zip and link Hypnos mattresses that can be made you as 2 single beds

Bedroom 3/Second study (second floor): Super King bed with Hypnos mattresses that can be made you as 2 single beds. If made up as a super-king or twins space in this room is quite constrained.

Bathroom
Family bathroom (first floor): Bath with a shower over, toilet and wash basin and Lefroy Brooks brassware

Heating
The property has a gas central heating system. Underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom with electric towel warmers in the bathroom.
Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. Logs for the wood burning stove can be purchased locally.

Housekeeping
Where a letting exceeds 15 nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.

Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen) and high-chair can be provided.

Young children should be supervised due to the steep stairs leading to the first and second floors.

Initial consumables
A small quantity of initial consumables should normally be available (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher power, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.

Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property set over three floors and with steep staircases which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies.

The front door of the property opens onto the street, and though this is extremely quiet and un-trafficked, guests with young children should take particular care to ensure that the children are supervised when the door is opened.

Smoking
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property.

Excellent Property in an Ideal Location
Property is located in the heart of Winslow. It’s very close to the High Street for easy walking access, but we did not hear any traffic noise during our stay. Very peaceful and quiet. Parking was challenging at times, but this was to be expected. Ceilings are low, which you need to watch out for if you are tall. Stairs are. steep and narrow. This was not not a problem because it is characteristic for this period of property. House is finished to a very high standard. Our host, Michael, was very responsible to all our questions.

Perfect house in historic setting
The house has been beautifully and sensitively renovated so it still feels like a cottage from the 18th century but it has every modcon you would want - with stylish lighting, nespresso machine, Sonos everywhere, boiling/drinking water tap, great bathroom. Wonderful comfortable beds and linen- felt like we were in a hotel. Village store at end of road and lovely church and grounds nearby. Couldn’t have been better. Highly recommended.

Lovely house in a lovely location
A very well appointed house in the charming market town of Winslow. Tall people beware though: some low ceilings and doorways !

About the host

Between us my wife and I have over 50 years of experience in luxury travel, having started Purple Ski back in 1991. Born and raised in Buckinghamshire, Winslow is our home in beautiful rural Buckinghamshire when we are back in the UK, Cannes is a city that we have been visiting for over 40 years, Venice we fell in love with from the first time we visited in 2003. See our other listings for details of Cannes and Venice properties.

We think you will love our three unique rental properties.

Why they chose this property

We bought No 14 Church Street to be near our son's school and Michael's father. Winslow is a most delightful town and the conservation area of Church Street is simply enchanting.
