Week away from work
This was a planned week away from work/ end of summer getaway for my family and a few days of solace for myself. Trip had a little bump with a tropical storm, but the property was well suited for the weather. Location is perfect with minutes access to beaches, restuarants and the ferry. Amenities at the property are plentiful and it is quite charming. The wrap around porch is very lovely and perfect for enjoying the sunrise over the sound and watching the moon over the oceanside.

Hatteras
The property is as described in the listing. We had a great stay, Jesse was super great to work with. He answered any questions we had and provided anything we needed. He was extremely helpful when there was a chance the area would flood, he let us know where we could park our cars. The animals were great! The goat one goat was super friendly, the others would hang around but didn't really let us get too close. The house was definitely an older house and did not have ALL the amenities a new house would have, but if you love older homes it is a great place to stay!

Why they chose this property

You'll find a few Austin ancestors in the graveyard behind the house dating back to the early 1800's. This property was built by a family member who was a pioneer in the local fishing industry and a retired Coast Guardsman. As an island history enthusiast, I wanted to preserve a piece of island heritage and share the story of Hatteras with others.

What makes this property unique

One of the last historic homes left in Hatteras Village. In its remote location it is truly secluded from the hustle and bustle of highway 12.
