A footpath leads you onto a cliff walk west into Thorness Bay, and is part of the coastal path around the island. You can also stroll along the promenade to Old Town of Cowes which will take 30 to 40 minutes, passing the beach and colourful beach huts and cafes.

Cowes is the home of yachting, famous as one of the world's main yachting centres, and in August hundreds come to race and enjoy the bustling nightlife. Cowes Parade is an interesting place at any time of year to watch passing ships. The town centre has an abundance of small shops and supermarkets, with a varied choice of fine cafes, pubs and restaurants.
