About the host
Hosted by Adam Barclay
We have been married 32 years, and have two grown children. We embarked on an adventure of a lifetime, when 22 years ago, we bought what most people would have called a ruin. We still all think fondly back when we had to live in tents inside the Chateau!
Why they chose this property
Our goal was to create a family compound where family could come and stay and enjoy the serene landscape and relax. When we first saw this place, we realized it needed us as much as we needed it-- a place to call home.
What makes this property unique
The chateau was once a monastery, and still has the sense of calmness that will give you a moment to contemplate and give you a glimpse of what the monks once enjoyed. The buildings date back to the year 1032 A.D. and as you walk the property, you will be in awe of what was once built without modern machinery.
We have renovated, allowing for the history to still be our main priority. Enjoy the tour though the caves, or a local vineyard then take a dip in the heated pool! Read the history in one of the books of the region...or take in a move about the Marque de Sade (who had a visit at the local prison!) So much to do....but in reality....all you want to do is relax!
