The Bothy has a truly magical charm with plenty to do locally. The village pub is a 5-minute stroll .
For adventure and activities, Thetford Forest is 9 miles, with designated walking and cycle routes for all abilities and picnic opportunities. Interesting places include Grimes Graves, a Neolithic flint mine, a preserved monastic site, enjoy a ride on the Bressingham Steam Railway, explore the steam collections and official Dad’s Army exhibition, Norfolk Tank Museum at Forncett St Peter, and the National Trust Oxburgh Hall is well worth a visit. The amazing North Norfolk coastline with excellent sandy beaches, coastal path, RSPB nature and bird reserves, and the Royal Sandringham Estate are an hours’ drive.
The city of Norwich, with many shops, two indoor shopping malls, a cathedral, theatre, castle museum, market square, cafés, restaurants and Bury St Edmunds, abbey ruins and famous Christmas market are 35 minutes’ drive. While Ipswich, with marina and historical town centre and Ely, with its magnificent cathedral, or even the university city of Cambridge for a punt along the River Cam passing through the university grounds, are all worth a visit. In the Norfolk Broads National Park, Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, is 26 miles away, with daily boat hire and river trips, shopping and waterside restaurants.
