Just terrific. Have never had a more organized communication/ check in process and the apartment was beautiful. Great family time together in the terrace. Grazie Mille!
A great location in Spello. A bit away from the main tourist area down below. Still close to plenty of restaurants. Near to a parking area and close to the trailheads of some hiking trails. And a fantastic rooftop terrace to unwind at the end of the day. Grazie Walter and Sonora
We had a wonderful stay with lots of room, great central location and bags could be dropped at the door from our car. Owner rep was easy to contact for any needs. Terrazzo at the top amazing with a clear view to the East plus lights of Foligno to the south. Great for two couples.
A perfect home away from home in beautiful Spello!
My husband and I spent 10 nights in this incredible medieval tower home and cannot wait to return! Walter, his daughter Sonora, and their family have created a welcoming, comfortable, and charming dwelling to enjoy and relax in during your trip. To the point--clean, tastefully furnished in Umbrian style & spacious, you have everything needed in the kitchen, a washer/dryer, comfortable beds with excellent linens & towels, abundant hot water, 2 bathrooms, & an amazing roof deck with glorious view of the hills and valley. Sonora and Walter were fantastic in corresponding & always available to help with acclimating & giving local details. We cooked most nights & it was great to have that kitchen outfitted so well, & to have local olive oil from the family's own groves! The location is great as we walked out the door and into the hills, hiked to Assisi & back, as well as along the aqueduct. It's a beautiful area forested and with olive groves and vineyards, where you can walk in the steps of St. Francis. I only wish that we had taken a tour of the family's olive groves, but next time! There's much to see in Spello from Roman mosaics to medieval art in the churches, & the people are simply lovely and welcoming. Thank you to Walter and Sonora for a truly relaxing and cozy vacation! We hope to return soon!
What a lovely spot! The property is as shown online - with an amazing roof top garden! - in an updated and many, many centuries old building located on a beautiful medieval street in Spello, Umbria.
Owner Walter was an excellent host. We were warmly greeted, helped with our luggage at arrival and departure, and generously gifted with both daily coffee and pastries at a local café, as well as with a special bottle of locally produced olive oil. Walter was also very helpful by quickly replying to any questions we had throughout our stay.
A bonus of the property: the beds, linens, and towels. Vacation rental properties often have mattresses that need replacing, older linens, and a minimal number of older towels. That was not at all the case at Casa Spadolino Torre; all these items were top notch. Much appreciated!
During our mid-April 8 days in Spello, we enjoyed beautiful walks to anywhere we wanted to go in town – the grocery market, restaurants, shops, historic spots. We also had the ease of close access to our rental vehicle for day trips to surrounding Umbria sites. All in all, it was perfect for us.
We would return to both the town and the Casa Spadolino Torre in a heartbeat.
Grazie, Walter!
We found a home away from home in Spello, in Urbe.
Superb! The house was roomy and had everything needed to make day to day living easy and comfortable, from the well-equipped kitchen to the washer and rooftop drying rack and clothespins, all of which we used. The house was perfectly located for strolling through the flower-draped streets of Spello to restaurants, shops, gelaterias (!!!), and to the train station. Walter and his daughter made us feel at home from the time we arrived until we reluctantly left. They were quickly responsive via WhatsApp and answered questions about their favorite restaurants that we might not find on our own. They even arranged for us to go out into the countryside to help harvest cornflowers for the famous annual Infiorate di Spello which blankets the streets with intricate and beautiful floral mosaics. Our grown children and 10-year-old granddaughter stayed with us for about a week and a half and we were all very comfortable in the space. A favorite spot for each of us was the spacious terrace with what is certainly one of the best views in Umbria. The canopy sheltered us from the sun and we shared many delicious meals there surrounded by breathtaking views, the cooing of doves, and the air show of the swifts. The location of the town itself is perfect for day trips to Spoleto, Assisi, Florence, or Siena. We stayed a month, and when we left we felt as if we were leaving friends. Walter couldn't have been a better host and the house itself was perfect. We can't wait to return!
