This property has it all - great location in a cozy package. We stayed here as a base camp for the surrounding area and it was such a relaxing place to come back to every evening. Easy walk to local restaurants for meals. Wonderful view to the water. Absolutely recommend!
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The views from the upstairs were beautiful and the location perfect. One of our favorite locations of our trip. Highly recommend.
The property has modern well kept amenities but is still as cozy as staying at my grandma's house.
The location is good as well, it's a short walk to both beautiful ocean views and the town's bakery for breakfast or restaurants for dinner.
It was a perfect amount of space for our group of 5 with 2 shared beds and 1 single.
I would recommend this place to others looking to stay in Stykkisholmur!!
Really lovely home with good beds, very clean, and in a great location. We used it as a base for exploring the peninsula, and it was nice to be able to do laundry. I feel like the photos don't quite do it justice.
We would stay here again! The staircase is steep but not a problem for our teenagers. The house is very clean and well equipped and close to everything.
This house is amazing. Very clean and well stocked with everything we needed to make our meals. The host was extremely helpful and responsive to our questions. Highly recommend!
We loved our 2-night stay at Katla’s home. The house has a comfortable and cosy feel to it whilst providing modern facilities. The kitchen had everything we needed for self-catering. A clean, modern bathroom with good shower, and the well-equipped laundry room was also very useful. Lovely garden with sitting/grill area. The sleeping arrangements also worked well for us (family of four). Check-in/out was easy, and a smooth and friendly communication with host.Recommend to stay a few days here :)
Feeling home from beginning - well equiped kitchen - finest artful selection in decoration. Best lining, beds and covers to really feel well. Panorama-view to all sides.
This house had everything our group needed, a central location, two bedrooms, a nice bathroom, a place to park a rental car, a fully furnished kitchen, a TV, and remarkably fast I internet access.
Having said that, there are notes of caution, especially the steep stairs to the second level and the decor, which is nice, but close to antique, which, if kids were included, could be an issue.
The host was responsive and helpful, so any issues could easily be resolved, so I can heartily recommend the property.
This beautiful little house is a delight. It's quite small but very light and comfortable. The concept is very a traditional Icelandic country home and this gives a lovely, warming feeling; we felt "at home" from day 1 and were still very happy here for the entire 10 day stay. Very well equipped and with a good kitchen. Quality bedding. Very effective floor heating. One negative, there are very steep and narrow stairs but a small bedroom on the ground floor makes it possible for an elderly guest.
We would love to come again!
This seems like a very new rental and we were perhaps some of the first guests. Because of that, there were a few small kinks to be worked out AND everything was in impeccable condition.
First, the kinks (and they are minimal!): I had to reach out to confirm the rental and get arrival details; the bathroom could use more places to hang towels (we found ourselves draping them over doors); WiFi password came via email rather than being printed on something inside the house. The upstairs would be very tricky with small children or elderly guests, but was fine for us. Also, we didn't need all the sleeping spaces, so we used the downstairs bedroom as a changing room and suitcase area. Getting suitcases upstairs might prove challenging. If you use the hand-held shower head, keeping water inside the shower isn't easy and the bathroom floor gets wet.
Next, the good stuff: the location is amazing and newly-renovated parts of the house are in pristine condition. We loved being right in town, within walking distance of the ferry, pool, Bonus, and restaurants. Views of the church and town are gorgeous and the beds are comfortable. The hooks inside the door were great for our many layers of warm clothing and rain gear. The house was very comfortable for our family of four (kids ages 12 and 15) and exactly what we wanted.
Thank you for a great stay!
Our family had a wonderful time exploring Stykkisholmur and the Snaefellsness Peninsula. The house is walkable to many sites around town, as well the local Bonus, pharmacy, bakery and restaurants. There are lovely views in all directions. The kitchen was well equipped. The living room was cozy and perfect for family game night. As mentioned in some other reviews, the stairs to the second floor are steep and narrow. We were able to use the downstairs laundry/utility room to store luggage, and there was also a large closet in the upstairs bedroom as well as a dresser in the upstairs loft. There were plenty of hooks and shelves for coats, hats etc. Although the sleeping arrangements worked fine for our family group of nine, it may be best suited for a group of six or seven. Katla was very responsive to any questions we had, and made us feel welcome in her beautiful home!
