About this property
The Trossachs Apartment
This lovingly renovated apartment, in the quiet village of Doune, is a perfect base to explore central Scotland and the city of Stirling, as well as The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.
Enjoying uninterrupted views over the Highlands and Doune Castle, the location may feel familiar. Doune Castle is featured in Outlander as Castle Leoch and in Game of Thrones as Winterfell.
This modern apartment features fast WiFi, a fully equipped kitchen, a relaxing lounge and comfortable bedroom.
Doune is a lively "wee" village in the vicinity of Stirling. Well placed for visits to Stirling, the historic "Gateway to the Highlands" or Scotland's biggest cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
In the opposite direction, only a few minutes drive is The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park with outside activities on offer including hiking and cycling.
The village green is opposite the apartment - meaning our windows have un-interrupted views to the hills. Several cafes, restaurants, take-aways and pubs are located in Doune - within a minute walk of the apartment.
There is free parking on the streets around the apartment and you are advised that a car would be preferable due to the rural location of Doune.
Located bang in the centre of Scotland, Doune is the perfect location to base yourself for a few days of exploring or a stop off on the way to or from the Highlands and Islands.
The nearest train stations are Bridge of Allan or Dunblane and the nearest Airports are Glasgow and Edinburgh. The M9 and the Scottish Motorway Network is accessed only a few minutes drive away, meaning fast travel times to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
North from Doune the A9 leads to Perth, the Cairngorms and Inverness. West the A82, takes you towards Glen Coe and the Western Highlands. The Western Island Ferry ports of Mallaig and Oban are both accessed via this road.
The nearby The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park is a perfect day trip destination. Aberfoyle is a favourite destination with it's traditional shops and cafes. Only slightly further West is Loch Lomond itself with it's multitude of islands perfect to explore by boat. Loch Katrine and it's steam boat service is a popular destination for walking, cycling or just taking in the scenery.
