THE DETAIL
Porters Court is an exclusive development of just 8 villas nestled within landscaped tropical gardens with a communal pool, accessed via security gates. It is located 45 minutes driving (47km/29 miles) from Barbados' international airport (BGI) and just 5 minutes walk from the beach.
All guests of No 7 can access the Beach Club facilities at the luxurious 5* Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel. This gives No 7 guests complimentary sun loungers and parasols, free WiFi and 10% discount on food and drink for up to four people. Also discount on water sport facilities, on a pay as you go basis.
No 7 - the Green Carib, named after our regular hummingbird visitor - is a charming interior designed detached villa with 2 kingsize bedrooms (one of these can be separated into 2 single beds) each with their own en-suite modernised shower rooms. The villa is all on one level, built along traditional Bajan chattel house design with high pickled pine ceilings and polished hardwood floors. There are 3 steps up to the villa but otherwise step-free access to the pool and inside the house.
Our housekeeper is available once a week (included), depending on arrival dates. Our Property Management Company provides a comprehensive service to all our guests and a dedicated team in Barbados ensures all your questions are dealt with promptly. Our Villa Manager, Jeanine, will organise for any supplies you request to be ready and waiting for you when you arrive at a small fee - perhaps some rum punch to welcome you after your journey and some basics for your first evening and breakfast? She can also help with taxi transfers from the airport and advise on car rental (hire cars can be delivered to the villa). Jeanine can also provide cot and highchair hire at BBS$35 per day.
There is a full time gardener and pool maintenance twice a week.
The villa has air conditioning and ceiling fans in the main living area, both bedrooms as well as a ceiling fan outside on the veranda.
It has been newly updated, painted inside and out and newly furnished (2022/2023) to reflect traditional Barbados stylish living while providing a pure sense of comfort.
The villa is complimented by a covered veranda area ideal for outdoor dining and relaxation. No 7 is very fortunate to have a wonderful view from the veranda of the local countryside. And the side veranda looks over the pool, ideal if you have young children.
There is an open plan living area with comfortable sofas, flat screen TV, Cable TV, Sonos sound system, optic fibre, fast broadband WiFi (100+Mbps) and a well-equipped kitchen including a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine. There is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a guest powder room (WC).
Both bedrooms have newly installed en-suite shower rooms (September 2022 and September 2023), fully fitted wardrobes, air conditioning, ceiling fans plus hair dryers and hair straighteners.
All linens, towels and beach towels are provided. There are 4 folding beach chairs in the villa for your use, together with a couple of cool boxes. There is a Weber Gas BBQ on the veranda for your personal use.
On the pool deck there are sun loungers and large parasols.
Guests are all provided with an extensive Information Pack with details of the beaches, restaurants, and all the various attractions of Barbados on sea and on land.
No 7 Porters Court is ideally suited to explore the island. It is located on the prestigious West Coast in the parish of St. James. The crystal blue water of the Caribbean sea is just 350 metres away at Alleyne’s Bay and can be accessed via the royal palm-lined driveway to the Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel or by a path close to the renowned Lone Star Restaurant and informal beach bar JuJu’s.
There is also the beach and an excellent restaurant - the Sea Shed - at Mullins Bay which is a short drive away - and for water sports fanatics there is plenty of opportunity to take part in a wide variety of activities including diving, snorkelling, water skiing and jet skiing on all the local beaches.
If you can bear to leave the beach, Holetown is just over a mile and a half to the south, only a 10 minute drive away. Here you will find beach-front bars, top-class restaurants, a well stocked Massy supermarket, specialist shop Clifton Market, the upmarket Limegrove shopping mall, banks, coffee shops, a small branch of Cave Shepherd selling duty free goods, and even a business centre. Pay a visit to the Chattel House Village - a small collection of beautiful chattel-styled shops selling jewellery, swimwear, t-shirts, the Gourmet Shop and every type of souvenir imaginable. Level Up Gym in Holetown offers pay-as-you-go activities.
Holetown also has some wonderful restaurants - many of which have tables overlooking the sea - such as Tides, Zaccios and Paul Owens At The Beach House.
Nearer to home you could sample the delights of the famous Lone Star Restaurant for lunch or dinner - just a 10 minutes walk, or visit the beach front club, bar and restaurant at the luxurious Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel - just 5 minutes away. This is an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner, offering superb food and a first class service - and 10% discount with the villa's Beach Club membership.
Further afield, Bridgetown, the capital is about a 30 minute drive south along the stunning coastal road. It is a lively, bustling town - and well worth a visit particularly for its historic buildings including the Garrison, the Parliament, the Careenage, and the Old Spirit Bond. Oh and the Mount Gay Distillery Tour & Rum Tasting (close to Rihanna Drive, Rihanna's childhood home)!
For golf enthusiasts, Porters Court is a 5-minutes' drive away from the Royal Westmoreland Golf Course and a 12-minutes' drive from the Sandy Lane Golf Course - two of the finest golf courses in the Caribbean.
It is not essential to hire a car during your stay. There is an excellent public bus service along the West Coast and you can easily pick up one of the fast and frequent buses to get around. Taxis are in plentiful supply too. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk from the villa, by the Fairmont Hotel entrance.
However if you like your independence and really want to explore the island at your leisure car hire is easily available, your car can be delivered to the villa and can be booked care of our Villa Manager. There are plenty of stunning beaches to visit on the wilder East Coast including Bathsheba and Cattlewash, the surfers' paradise at The Soup Bowl and even "Outer Banks" film locations including St John's Parish Church and Animal Flower Cave to the north (for fans of the TV programme there are also closer locations to the villa including the Pier at Port St Charles and the Cove Springs House just 5 minutes walk).
When to visit: The climate in Barbados is tropical, warm and humid all year round. Average temperatures range from 21C at night to 31C during the day (70F to 88F). February-June is driest. June-October is hotter with averages of 30C/86F and a little wetter with occasional rain showers but these are quickly followed by sunshine again and you won't be kept off the beach for long. Sea temperature ranges from 25C (79F) to a high of 29C (84F).
July to August can be better value and a bonus is the traditional Kadooment and Crop Over Festival with carnival parades celebrating the harvest, falling in the first weekend of August.

About the host
Hosted by Helen Bland

As a young child I (Helen) lived in Barbados a couple of years with my parents, near Oistins so I've always felt a strong connection to the country. Returning again with my parents, my husband Dave and our daughter a couple of times we fell in love with the island, its people, its atmosphere and everything to do and see.
We found the ideal home from home and are delighted to be able to share it with like-minded guests.
We also have an AirBnB property in France (and have achieved Super Host status). You can find it at: www.leMasDesVignes.info

Why they chose this property
7 Porters Court immediately attracts with its pretty house, airy pickled pine ceilings and veranda, lazy fans (and air con!), shared pool with just 7 other villas and - very importantly - very easy access to the stunning sandy beach on Alleyne's Bay/Glitter Bay.
What makes this property unique
Access to the 5* Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel Beach Club 5 minutes walk away is just the icing on the cake. Not to mention the proximity of the iconic Lone Star Restaurant which my parents knew too, back in the day when it was a petrol/gas station!
