About this property

2 Storey House with garden, central Bergerac, spacious and bright. Parking privé

Newly renovated 2 storey house, fully equipped with brand new furniture and beds. The property is right in the middle of Bergerac, in immediate walking distance of restaurants, bars and cafés, bakeries, the main market and small supermarkets.
It is located in a calm street, not overlooked, so you can make the best of the small sunny garden (complete with palm tree!).
The ground floor is taken up by one very large room (40m2) with 3 full length french windows. The kitchen/dining area blends seamlessly into the living area with its 4 seater sofa and armchair - the perfect place to relax. There is high speed (fibre optic) wi-fi throughout.
You can normally park just outside the house, and we have a lock-up garage next to the house (not suitable for very large vehicles). The railway station is 600m away and a less-than-10 minute walk through the old town brings you to the banks of the Dordogne, and the Maison des Vins (Quai Cyrano), our favourite place to have a glass of wine overlooking the river.

First Class
This property, in a great location, was ideal for 3 couples who wanted to explore the region. Martin and Gwendoline were extremely helpful and assisted us with information that added to our positive experience. The high standard of fitout and appliances helped make our stay enjoyable. We were close to the old city, weekly markets and transport connections. As experienced travellers, this was one of our best stays.

We enjoyed our stay here. The house has been renovated to a high standard, is very clean, comfy beds and well equipped. Its location is very central but in a quiet street. All you could ask for.

Bergerac kn March
A splendid house right in the town but in a very quiet street. Beautifully and tastefully modernised, whilst retsining it's old character. Easy access to all the town points of interesr,, but also easy to drive in and out ( with sat nav help!). Garage for necessry parking somewhat tricky but manageable! Martin very helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend!!!!

Clean and bright property but skimpy supplies
The house has no view, so if that's important to you then you should look elsewhere. It was fine for us as we were looking for a nice, practical house centrally located in Bergerac. However, the radiators stopped working after the first day, which made the upper floor particularly frigid. The owners had been dealing with a hot water problem upon our arrival so we didn't want to bother them about the heat and made do. Our only real criticisms would be that a scant amount of essentials were provided and we were expected to replace what we'd used. For example, we were given three dishwasher tablets for a ten-day stay, and there were no condiments besides a piddling amount of salt, pepper, olive oil, and vinegar. We were also expected to "leave the house as we'd found it," which involved a lot of vacuuming and kitchen clean-up on departure morning. We were also given one bath towel each while there there were a large number of replacement towels in a bathroom closet on a shelf marked, "Do not touch," which meant frequent washing of towels with no dryer and February weather not allowing for line-drying. All in all not a huge deal, but it added up to give the impression guests were more tolerated than welcome. Our interactions with the owners were excellent, so it was odd that their stinting approach to providing for the comfort and convenience of their guests wasn't commensurate with the personal warmth they exhibited.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this house as soon as we saw it, and it our second home when we want a break from the countryside.

What makes this property unique

Right in the middle of town, but very spacious and lots of light, AND with a palm tree!
