Podere Casa Muricce is the perfect place for people who love nature, animals, and the woods. Situated atop a hill 400 metres high and carefully restored in keeping with tradition, Casa Muricce is a typical old Tuscan stone house: all the furnishings, even the doors, are original pieces from Tuscan homes dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The surrounding 13-acres of land includes olive trees, centuries-old oaks, and a young vineyard. There is another building, but it has not yet been renovated, so you will be the only guest. The swimming pool is reserved exclusively for you.
There is also a fruit garden, an orchard, and a garden of aromatic plants: all the produce and fruits from these are available for guests to enjoy. We also keep bees and produce our own honey.
There is an outdoor table with a stunning view, right by the swimming pool, where you can eat and relax.
Our philosophy is: enjoy nature, its energy, its colours, and its scents. The panoramic setting allows you to appreciate the light of the stunning sunset while sipping a glass of wine by the pool or savouring a delicious “Fiorentina” steak cooked on the grill. It’s not uncommon to spot fallow deer or other animals in the quiet of the evening. We don’t view our guests as customers, but as friends who share our passions.
The village of Mercatale Valdarno is just 900 metres away; there you’ll find a market, pharmacy, bakery, bar, and more. On the hill in front of Casa Muricce, just a 2-km drive away, stands the panoramic medieval tower of Galatrona Castle, which you can climb to the top of. Within 30–40 km are Florence, Arezzo, and Siena (the first two are also easily accessible by train from the Montevarchi station, which is less than 10 minutes away). Cortona, Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano, and the Val d’Orcia are approximately one hour away by car.
