we were in town for a family function so we didn't go to the beach or anything. the place was perfect for our visit. very clean and the owner was great to deal with
The house was cute & quaint and perfectly located. Right down the street from Publix, Dearborn street and a short ride to Englewood Beach. The bungalow provided a comfortable and convenient stay for my quick trip into town with my mother-in-law & 4-yr old - everyone had a good time!
Perfect little beach getaway. Had everything we needed , communication with property owners was great! They answered all questions we had prior to arriving. We look forward to staying on this property again! Loved how close it was to our favorite beach.
This bungalow is centrally located in Englewood and was convenient to everything. It was exceptionally well equipped and comfortable in every way. The perfect spot for an anniversary getaway!

***Beware this scammer*** The Tale of the Imaginary "Break in"
We work very hard as a small, humble family business. It is usually an absolute pleasure to host everyone who appreciates and enjoys our safe, quiet neighborhood in Englewood like we do! But..... unfortunately as hosts we sometimes get a WILDCARD of a guest with questionable intentions. After the first night of her stay Donna was calling us first thing in the morning demanding money from us because as it turned out, she had no money - not even to eat and she admitted this in front in person to both of us. During her first and only call we received from her, she complained about a slow running bath drain, which no other guests have mentioned before her. She quietly yet somewhat threateningly stated to me 'How are you going to make things right with us?' Her complaint the first time was a slow running drain. As soon as we got her message we contacted her via text (We were at work and could not call her directly at that exact moment). Shortly thereafter we were able to call her and promptly and politely offering to take a look at the drain for her. She refused stating 'I'll just make do'. After politely asking again if she was sure that I couldn't take a look at the drain 'I don't want anyone here right now' and rudely, 'for the amount I am paying the drain should work better' before hanging up. So, to clarify, the first refund she requested was for a 'slow running drain' which wasn't running slow according to any other guests immediately before her. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it...
It should be noted Shortly before Donna's Arrival, my 70 year old mother stayed in this property safely, ALONE and without incident for about 2 months when her home was destroyed by hurricane IAN. I would never let my own mom stay somewhere unsafe nor in need of repair. we too sometimes stay there and have always enjoyed the quiet and safety of this awesome little refuge. Of al the times we and our family members have stayed there no one has ever had an incident such as the crazy fake break in that person claims.
Now Back to Donna: At the point when only one night remained on Donna's booking remained, we were notified by VRBO of an early check out. We figured out she must have just decided to check out early so we went to the property as soon as we could get off work. To our surprise, Donna and her Two teenage guests came back to the property AFTER CHECKOUT! That is TRESPASSING. I don't' think she expected us to be there either because her eyes were glassy and blazing as she started ranting and stammering about a 'break in' and 'someone went into the locked the house at night but didn't steal anything, but instead simply turned the TV off'.
So to get this straight she was saying someone entered the locked and secured house risking a break and entry charge in order to simply turn a TV off??
This was the first we had heard of this as she never bothered to contact us. We asked if she called the police during the break in, her eyes started darting back and forth very quickly 'NO' she blurted. " We asked if anyone of the three guests with cell phone cameras obtained any video of the supposed perp-they were all apparently awake during this incident however it didn't occur to anyone to call the police, call us or try to document what was going on? We were perplexed as she went on and on-demanding money and how she didn't have any money to eat, etc.. She was very shaky and practically getting in our faces inside the house babbling on and on about someone breaking in and turning off the TV in the middle of the night. She was also asking how many other properties we owned and how much money they made. We are a small family business and only have the property here on VRBO-she didn't seem to like that answer. Our Spidey senses were now tingling as it became very apparent this was a shakedown for money. We were so stunned at the time we were unsure of how to react-was she going to get violent, was she going to to start damaging our property? In retrospect, we are upset at ourselves for not calling the police since she was now trespassing on our property and acting crazy!!! She was stumbling, slurring words asking for money to 'make things right for us' as she put it. We were petrified and afraid of her damaging our property if she didn't get her way. This was the first we heard of any type of attempted break in. She NEVER informed us of any disturbance until after checking out and returning. No evidence of any attempted break in was found upon later inspection.
This is an extremely quiet, safe and very low crime area. We know all of our neighbors and we all look after each other's property-it is a wonderful family neighborhood and we are blessed to have such great neighbors. Our neighbors would have told us if someone was banging on a door in the night - they would have called the police. we found it strange the Donna and her 2 Teenage guests stay continued to stay in the property for most of the day afterward after this claimed 'break in' and before she checked out through VRBO. Note that three adults didn't call the police or have any evidence on their smart phones of someone breaking in to "turn off the TV" .
We ALWAYS try to give folks the benefit of the doubt but she appeared to possibly be under the influence or maybe having some other type of episode? In retrospect we wish we would have called the police although it would be heartbreaking to have to do this to someone that we graciously welcomed into our house. We welcome everyone and always try to make our guests feel welcome and safe. My own mother has stayed in this property after being displaced from Hurricane Ian and I would never let my mom stay somewhere unsafe. It should be noted no other guests have ever made a claim about a lack of safety like this. Donna's review is false, exaggerated and libel-and she has provided NO proof to substantiate her claims. This was a shakedown, and we allowed this person to book our home with NO REVIEWS and we came to learn after the fact that VRBO doesn't verify the IDS!
It should be noted Donna's review also violates VRBO's guidelines that state verbatim *Any Contributed Content must be truthful, accurate and appropriate. VRBO has allowed this review to remain posted without showing us any proof of Donna's claims and in fact, when we contacted VRBO about this falsification, VRBO demanded we provide evidence that she is not telling the truth? So according to VRBO we as a small business are somehow guilty until proven innocent? By Leaving this review posted VRBO is allowing Donna to commit libel against our small struggling business.
Please check our other reviews and decide for yourself - if this property was so unsafe why would she stay for the next half day after a supposed break in? Why would she not call the police or her two grown-up daughters if a break in were occurring? Why would someone break in to a house only to leave everything untouched and only to turn off the TV???? We had just sustained extensive damage from Hurricane Ian and we open up our home only to have one of the first guests to be Donna and her family trying to shake us down for a free stay. What terrible luck. We love our guests who have normal travel intentions, and you can tell by our reviews.
Thanks for reading our side of things and we wish you happy and safe travels!
Was perfect for a small family getting away! Used the space for a birthday gathering and dinner. Exactly what the pictures showed. Place was very clean. Minutes away from the beach! Got to see a beautiful beach sunset and the day after ventured out for another beach day! Found lots of sharks teeth at Englewood beach and Blind Pass beach! Check- in was easy. Very cute beach vibes the place has. Would recommend to friends and family. Thanks for sharing your property!

Close to beach and town within walking distance. Was not aware of tv situation so that kind of sucked. The attached garage is made into a suite and there were renters in there. That was weird. But overall not bad.

The unit serves the purpose as a more affordable option within a reasonable drive to the beach. Its definately not walkable distance and every time we drove it was 8 minutes to the nearest public beach parking... so not bad. The interior of the unit is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. As for the curb appeal outside, prepare to be underwhelmed... it looks pretty rough outside this unit... but again. Once inside, its nice.
We are two retired women traveling alone who felt safe and comfortable in this home. While the outside is still showing the need for clean-up and repairs (a common problem for small businesses because big business and deep pockets get attention first) from the most recent hurricane damage. The inside of the rental home is beautiful, clean and inviting. The home sits 3 blocks away from a grocery and pharmacy. it was better for us to drive there just as it was to other nearby places like the weekly flea market in downtown historical Englewood. While the home isn’t on a beach it is within driving distance to the beaches and great dining. The house has most amenities you’ll need but if there is something you didn’t bring or the house doesn’t have, there are great thrift stores in the area that benefit the homeless, animals or other great causes that can save you money. The owners of the property are very good to work with and do everything they can to make your stay a good experience. The location has an attached garage that has been converted to an efficiency rental and there is a tiny house behind the home, either can be rented. We’d stay here again and are planning for our next visit!
