The Wicket is a beautiful three-bedroom holiday home located in the village of Newton Ferrers, just a short walk to the water’s edge of Newton and Noss Creek on the River Yealm. A bright and stylish property, conveniently located for a relaxing break within this pretty nautical village and showcasing views across the village and beyond to the countryside above Noss Mayo. As you enter the house you are welcomed into the open plan kitchen, living and dining area which feels cosy and homely with coastal blue tones and high vaulted ceilings. The living area has deep comfortable sofas, a Smart TV with Freeview, a wood burner and the dining space is the perfect spot to enjoy a homecooked meal. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large electric and gas range cooker, wine fridge and a Tassimo coffee machine. Leading to the living space is a wet room with a shower, toilet and heated towel rail and a utility with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Patio doors open out from the kitchen into an enclosed courtyard patio area with a bistro table and chairs; a lovely suntrap for enjoying your morning coffee or for a peaceful escape. There is also a small patio area at the front of the property with garden furniture and a barbecue for al fresco dining, leading down to the lawn and well-established garden. From here the garden path leads down steps beyond the gate to the parking below. Head upstairs to discover three bedrooms, two of which each have a kingsize bed and the third has a standard double bed, Please note space is restricted in this room if utilised by two guests. The family bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath, heated towel rail and toilet.
The Wicket is the perfect bolthole within walking distance to all the major amenities in the waterside village of Newton Ferrers including shops, public house, the Yacht Club and a beautiful church. Only a short walk from the wooded riverside of the Yealm estuary, a sailing mecca, where the twin villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers lie opposite each other. A causeway, ’The Voss’, between the two villages can be crossed at low tide giving access to marvellous walking and there are superb inns on the water’s edge in both villages. The location is perfect for watersporting enthusiasts with the slipway literally on the doorstep, offering a great environment for kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding and sailing. Walkers can look forward to exploring the South West Coast Path, coming to beautiful sections of coastline backed by rugged cliffs, small beaches and coves. Beaches within a short drive include the family friendly Wembury, the hidden gem of Mothecombe, and Wonwell which has limited parking and no facilities, but low tide exposes acres of golden sand which is heaven for dogs to race across. Newton Ferrers is also conveniently close to the maritime city of Plymouth with its lively Barbican area, fascinating National Marine Aquarium, and the iconic Hoe and lighthouse offering fantastic views across one of the most perfect natural harbours in the world.
