About this property
Gwynne House - 6 Bed Holiday Home - Tenby Harbour
Gwynne House is a beautifully presented 200-year-old Grade II listed property overlooking Tenby Harbour and North Beach. Sleeping up to 12 guests across six bedrooms, this characterful home is just a stone’s throw from the beach and provides a fantastic setting for families and groups looking to enjoy everything Tenby has to offer.
Steeped in history, Gwynne House also has a fascinating literary connection. Mary Ann Evans, better known by her pen name George Eliot, is said to have been inspired here to write her first novel, which was published in 1857.
Please note that Gwynne House is a large historic property with accommodation arranged across four upper floors in addition to the ground floor. There is no lift, and guests will need to use several flights of stairs to access the bedrooms and living areas on the upper floors. We therefore recommend considering this carefully if anyone in your party has limited mobility or may find multiple flights of stairs difficult.
On entering Gwynne House, you are greeted by impressive high ceilings and original wooden floors. To the right of the hallway is a large, light and airy dining room boasting wonderful views across Tenby Harbour and North Beach – a fantastic space for the whole group to gather and enjoy meals together.
In the centre of the hallway is a handy snug area where coats and shoes can be stored. Continue through the snug and you’ll find a spacious family bathroom featuring a beautiful roll-top bath with handheld shower, as well as a large walk-in shower with rainfall and handheld shower heads. The bathroom also includes a double sink, toilet, washing machine and tumble dryer.
At the end of the hallway is the well-equipped kitchen, offering everything you need to cater for a larger group, including a double oven, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and breakfast bar.
From the centre of the hallway, the staircase leads through the upper floors of the house, with a roof window allowing plenty of natural light into the stairwell.
On the first floor, you’ll find the George Eliot Room, featuring a comfortable double bed, large flat-screen Smart TV, seating area and its own WC.
Continue to the second floor, where the lounge is positioned at the front of the property. This is a wonderful place to unwind while admiring the views across Tenby Harbour and North Beach, watching the boats come and go or relaxing on the velvet sofas in front of the impressive 65-inch Smart TV.
Also on the second floor is the John Gwynne Suite, featuring a super king-size bed, large flat-screen Smart TV, seating area and private en-suite bathroom with shower.
On the third floor is the Caldey Suite, offering twin beds, a large flat-screen Smart TV and an en-suite with shower, hand basin and toilet.
Across from the Caldey Suite is St Catherine’s Suite. This beautiful double bedroom is positioned so you can enjoy views across the harbour and out to sea from the bed. It also features a window seating area, large flat-screen Smart TV and an en-suite with a spacious walk-in shower, hand basin and toilet.
On the top floor, tucked within the eaves, are two further twin bedrooms. Both feature low-level beds and large flat-screen Smart TVs and share a WC. The front bedroom also provides another opportunity to take in Gwynne House’s wonderful harbour and sea views.
Please note that there is no private or allocated parking at Gwynne House. Nearby public parking options include Five Arches Car Park, Tenby Multi-Storey Car Park and Royal Gatehouse Car Park. Parking is subject to availability and spaces cannot be guaranteed.
With its incredible harbour views, fascinating history, spacious accommodation and unbeatable position close to Tenby’s beaches and town centre, Gwynne House provides a unique setting for a memorable group or family getaway on the Pembrokeshire coast.
Please note: Two well-behaved dogs are welcome on request.
